View Full Version : ? Best P4 Chip and Best P4 Motherboard ?
ADVICE NEEDED: PRICE NO OBJECT
What is the BEST P4 Chip for overclocking (good voltage, 600mhz+ fsb)?
What is the Best motherboard for this chip (fsb800)?
I'm a natural born p4 overclocker, I was introduced to overclocking with athlons... I've been dry-icing a p4 on a 865pe based P4P800E Deluxe recently (for the last few months). Got a good 360 fsb stable working with a sl6wu.
I've had my sl6wu for a LONG time now, and it's time to move on.
I'm going to have a go at 7 or 8ghz. I have the skill and equipment, but I've been out of the overclocking-purchasing loop for quite a while, and need some advice from my xtreme friends!
Would you recommend a SL82U or extreme editions?
If you have a nice chip (maybe an ES? or maybe an unreleased model)
Please PM me if you'd like to sell.
I'm a very friendly buyer, and can send cash/paypal (52+ rating).
Best regards,
Gabe

600+mhz FSB???
Yes, please! [Obviously not 600stock!!]
I have done enough with a 3.0c and a dual cascade.
600+ is going to be done, I'm not scared, it shall never even approach -10c...
I'm not "kidding around", does anyone have any advice on what P4 chip+mobo I should buy?
I haven't been keeping up with the press recently (meaning the last 6 months).

I'm afraid 600 isn't possible with any current motherboard to my knowledge, good luck :P

m8 , seriously ... 600+fsb youre having a laugh :p:
try 400+ first , as most of the BEST overclockers
in the world struggle to get anywhere near that...
And 8ghz? If fugger cant get 7.2Running then you wont
even get to 6!
Already been to 5.6 stable, I'm running 3.3 now with aircooling because I can't bring all of my cooling equipment between my houses in my suitcase.
I'll settle for 7.2, but my aim is obviously higher than that.
What say you voodoo for the best 400+ board?
Is the ABIT IC7/G/max3 any good (compared to p4p800e-d)?
What's your recommendation of LGAs?
I don't want any confrontations, I hardly ever come on xtremesystems, and my truest apologies if I have insulted any of you!
Sorry for asking this noob question.

Actually, the highest BIOS OC is 7.2GHz and don`t worry, he proved his talent with transistors a while ago. Now you come and get an im on that, that is your problem, but you won`t do it with all the respect I should give you.
600+ FSB, that proves that you haven`t read alot... And this thread would have way more answers in the correct section.
Now on the subject.
3.73EE or 660 and AA8XE.

m8 im just trying to tell you that getting even 6ghz stable 100% is
a matter of skill/luck/and cherry-picking your cpus !
Best socket 478 anf lga 775 boards are from DFI
particularly the DFI LanParty 875P_T and DFI Lanparty UT 926X2
but check this thread , you wont beat him for sure

first of all ic7 series boards wont go over 400mhz as the clockgen does not support higher. getting above 550mhz is IMO impossible with current boards. and your even talking about 800mhz fsb capable mobos?

roflmfao :ROTF: . youll never get above above 400 fsb, even if you have insane luck on your side. as for 7-8 ghz, :bs: :moon: :slap:
Thanks to those whom have shared knowledge.
To the rest: I'll take your pokes to my ribs humbly. I'll put 100% effort into this and its very, very likely I won't get to 8GHz. This will be fun though.

:welcome: and good luck, bro. You're going to need it.
While I certainly admire your enthusiasm I question your knowledge of what you are actually trying to do. It's good to have high hopes, but make them attainable.
