Hi

I've a big problem with this mainboard!
I want run it with higher fsb than 300 mhz (my cpu, 3.8E0 runs with multipler 19 @ 4.4 ghz), but with multipler 14 windows didn't boot with higher fsb than 291!
What can I do?
Settings:
NB voltage: 1.6 and 2.7
1066, Ram 533 (1:1)
PCI-E Fixed @ 100 and PCI @ 33.33
...
I'll hope someone could help me.

best regards

I have found that locking my pci-e on my DFI 925 T2, restricts how high I can get the fsb, have you tried the auto setting?

Entsafter

yes! same result!
I had have the dfi 925X-T2 and I was unhappy with the overclocking features, but the fatal1ty isn't better, if it didn't runs with fsb higher than 300 mhz!

This is interesting stuff as I too was going to get the AA8 Fatality as I am getting a Vapo LS and like you said the Dfi Maxes at 299. Exactly what settings have you been using, core volts/ mem/ dividers, etc. A few people on here have managed to get well over 300.
What ram are you using and also what cooling?

Well seems to be doing very well HERE (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=56105)
so maybe try that BIOS?

this isn't a fatal1ty board!
memory: ocz ddr2 platinum rev.2 (3-2-2-8)
they run great @ 395 mhz (790) with 4-3-3-8!
the ram couln't be the problem, but the board!

How much volts you giving the core and northbridge, are you using air/water or phase

Entsafter
03-20-2005, 10:59 AM
water phase :D
nb voltate: 1.6 (test 1.7 and 1.8), nb 2.5: 2.6 (test 2.7, 2.8) but always the same problem!
cpu: 1.6 V @ 4.4 Ghz (prime95 stable), tested 295*14 with 1.6V! but windows didn't boot.

You'd think the Fatal1ty version of the AA8XE would be better
Oh well.

omg :D
I've the fatal1ty and shamino the AA8XE ;-)
I think that the AA8XE bios didn't work on a fatal1ty???

There has to be a conflict somewhere, what are your cpu temps, the second post in the thread where the guy gets 6ghz with his AA8XE, there is a pic of a Fatal1ty running at 386fsb, its taken from Cebit or something.

Also have you updated to the latest official Fatal1ty bios as on page 2 of the intel pages, someone was having trouble getting some Ocz ram to work with their board.

cpu temps are normal (40-50°)!
the cpu runs with multi 19 @ 4.4 ghz rocksolid, the cpu isn't the problem.
I've the latest bios. but something is wrong with this board, it isn't stable with high fsb and in all review, this "great" board runs with fsb 330 and more!
the board runs with ocz low latency with the latest bios (I've such a low latency kit of ram)!

do you have any mods on that board?

hes using the fatality board, ive seen him use it in other threads

no voltage mods, nothing!
I thought that the board wouldn't need any vmod for fsb 300

I use these settings:

FSB: 267 (just for bootup ;))
N/B Strap: PSB800
PCI-E @ 110MHz
PCI @ 36MHz

FSB VTT: 1.5V
MCH Voltage: 1.85V
CMOS 2.5V Voltage: 2.65V

I also set DDR VTT voltage a bit higher than it should be. ex VDDR 2.2V -> VTT 1.2V (instead of 1.1V).

330FSB easy with 3-2-2-1 timings 1:1.

Do you oc with ocguru?
1.5 V FSB VTT??? thats really high for the cpu!
phase change cooled cpu?

try fixing your PCI-e @ 115Mhz, NB @ 1.7v

Entsafter
03-21-2005, 06:49 AM
stilt, thx for your help :D
the board runs with fsb 315! but not stable!
I can't boot into windows with higher fsb than 305, with ocguru I can clock till 312 mhz...
I try fixing pci-e @ 115

EDIT:
fixing pci-e @ 115 and nb @ 1.7 V works even better than pci-e @ 110 and nb @ 1.85 ;-)

EDIT2:
pci-e @ 115 isn't prime95 stable!
damnage!
what the hell is going on with this board?

hmmm my pwn temp is extremly high!
90° with active cooling????
pwm1: 60°
pwm2: 63°
pwm3: 69°
pwm4: 89°
something isn't normal!

have you visually made sure your otes fans are operating?

i noticed my temps start to climb one day and noticed the otes fans where going at 600rpm so i disabled the fan eq for them in bios and they ran around 5700rpm continuous after that.

Entsafter
03-21-2005, 10:20 PM
yup otes fans are operating @ ~5800 rpm
90° with active cooling is amazing

hawtrawkr
03-22-2005, 04:50 AM
yeah thaht does seem a little ridiculous maybe you should remove your otes hood and take a look at the heatsinks they have on the fets. they are only mounted with some crappy thermal tape maybe somethings not making proper contact somewhere (guess that would exlpain if you had a couple fets getting hot not all of them though)

Entsafter
03-22-2005, 07:31 AM
ok, perhaps I'll try to cool this damn fets with a waterblock

hawtrawkr
03-22-2005, 07:35 AM
something isnt right with 1.63 vcore under a full load my fets dont get hotter than 50-55c id check how your sinks are mounted first.

hell just blowing air over a plain mosfet should keep them cooler than your temps atm.

Entsafter
03-22-2005, 07:59 AM
perhaps a mosfet on the board is broken?

perhaps a mosfet on the board is broken?

if you had a broken mosfet youd probably see a massive drop on your vcore. i blew mosfet on a old ic7-g and i could boot into windows still but i had to underclock the cpu because with the blown fet it was only supplying 1.17v to the cpu and at that low of a voltage it couldnt boot in at its stock 3.4 i had to underclock it to like 2.7 or something lame like that for it to just boot windows and then i was able to see the problem with the vcore and trace it back to the mosfet which had popped.

Hello ALL! This is my first post in this forum.
I have a big trouble with my mainboard Fatality AA8XE

config:
P4 640
AA8XE Fatality
Power Color Radeon X800XL Dual DVI VIVO
2x512 Patriot XBL 3-2-2-4
2xSATA HDD Hitachi Raid 0
Audigy 2 ZS Platinum
Pinacle DV500 DVD
2xDVD Nec (DV500B + ND2500A)
PSU Power Man Pro 520W

When i set FSB to 268 MHz and entering Windows XP, my system and some diagnostic programs show my CPU frequency 9MHz and results is very very small, but in other programs like 3DSMAx all fine. If i set 265-266MHz all programs show my CPU clock correct. My previous MB AA8XE 3rd Eye works with this CPU fine on this FSB freq. Whats that??? I tried all metods but nothing... (i set higher voltages, flash other versions of bios....)

some diagnostics programs do not work well with uGuru boards, the most accurate reading of you're processor will be inside the uGuru software itself.

also over 266mhz FSB you should enable the N/B Strap to 1066, this might improve the performance issues.

Sound a lot like the clock speed bug ~(or rather 32-bit limitation @ ~4295 Mhz) in WinXP before SP2. Do you have SP2 installed? Did you have SP2 installed on the old MB? If you don't have SP2 installed, install it, it will fix the clock speed issue if that is what you are experiencing.
