Why, oh why did I sell my 2x512MB Mushkin LvL II when I couldn't get it to work on Neo2 :slap: :(

Very well done bud

Also, good to see some more peeps running 32M while testing. I was tired of Sandra and 1M runs only :toast:

thanks OPB...

a few tidbits i learnt while trying to reach 260mhz with above ram

1. cpuz error message you get 'cpuz already loaded previous version' can be fixed by either upping LDT voltage or lowering LDT multiplier http://i4memory.com/showthread.php?p=2929#post2929

2. DFI NF4 SLI-D drive strength level 7 was needed to be able to pass memtest86+ test #8 loops with level 6 1000s of errors in test #8 first pass. drive strength level 7 + LDT Voltage increase from 1.3 to 1.4 was needed for memtest test #8 to pass @ 266mhz 2-2-2-6 3.6v heh and up chipset voltage from 1.6 to 1.7 to pass super pi 4m so far @266mhz 2-2-2-6 1T 3.6v

so, 266x10 was not stable in Windows anymore? only in memtest ?

no currently running superpi 8m at 266mhz 2-2-2-6 just haven't finished the full suite yet to post screenies.. if it doesn't pass i only sometimes post screenies most of times i won't post anything lol

edit: just passed superpi 8m in 5min 40s running 16M test right now :)

That is REALLY good news for those :brick: that still :brick: have 2x512MB BH-5 kits :brick:

I'll be watching this thread for more updates...

Yup my gut was telling me to hold on to my 2x 512MB BH-5 pile of ram hence i never sold a single stick hehe. You never know when a new motherboard/cpu combo might take advantage of the legendary BH-5 memory :)

will keep you folks updated on how i go currently in 8th iteration of superpi 16m looking good :)

edit: heh i bought these on Dec 25, 2003 from mushkin.com directly heh

but the problem is spi gets not as fast with the old good stuff bh-5/bh-6 like the tccd, about 5mhz more and relaxed timings beat my 2-2-2- everytime.... in spi

i didnt check this out whats better for 3D benching but i think there the bh-5 increase performance through 2-2-2

Compared TCCD n' BH5
I personally favour BH5 over TCCD anytime
But i dont run BH5 @ 3.2v ~ 3.6v (24 x 7) coz the mobo mosfets get real hot
Run them (BH5) only for benchmarks
While TCCD 24 x 7 :)

hmm... nothing personal, man :) but for shots like that, the OC community should come up with some sort of verification.

apart from that, Prime95 SmallFFT is not too good for test like that... almost no memory is tested during this test ;)

eva2000
03-20-2005, 02:19 AM
yeah prime smallFFT doesn't test any memory nearly heh

btw superpi 32m passed in 28min 25s @266mhz 2-2-2-6 at 3.6v :)

Eva, I just dug out old SuperPI 32M run @ 260x10 with my Neo2/Winnie/2x256MB Mushkin...

eva2000

why sisosftsandra showing 2CMD on me while i have CPC ENABLED ?
explained at http://i4memory.com/showthread.php?t=327 under Windows Stability Testing heading

A few notes and issues before we start:

1. Sandra 2003, 2004, 2005 all incorrectly report 1T/2T or 1CMD/2CMD in sandra bandwidth bandmark even if you have CPC enabled in bios (1T). Reason seems to be Sandra is looking for tWTR and tRTW timings instead. If tWTR or tRTW are set to 1 (very very aggressive) then Sandra reports 1CMD instead of 2CMD. Not alot of memory brands/modules will handle both set at 1. Recommended values are 2. So ignore Sandra's 1CMD/2CMD 1T/2T report.

excellent job eva!! Nice complete testing too...no doubt in my mind those sticks are the real deal on the DFI.
I was playing around with my mushkin 512's yesterday and this is what I got with the 210 bios and 10x with a winnie that only goes to 2.7 on air.

With 9 multi, the same sticks went to 279 pifast 1m stable
This board loves 512 sticks of bh5.
I want to test that 310 bios now today with some of your settings to see if I can get these farther.
Thanx again for your work :toast:

no probs... nice clocks max for mushkin with 32M superpi ? vdimm used ?

looking good this DFI NF4 board it's first time i used doubled sided BH-5 on it heh i wonder how well my 2x512MB Mushkin PC3500 Black LVL2 BH-5 and Corsair XNS3500C2v1.1 BH-5 and Corsair XMS3200C2v1.1 BH-6 handle on this board.. guess I'll find out soon :)

That was with 3.6vdimm, 1.5vchipset, 1.2v ldt.
I have been inspired by your post to give these sticks and the dfi hell all day :) I never really bother with larger calculations in pi because im mostly a 3d guy and more times than not when a component is 1m pi or pifast stable for me, it will 3d at same speeds.
But....after seeing your post I want to try today for some larger calculations just to see where they end up. In fact, I think im going to throw just about everything I can at them today, I have nothing to do all day :)
Did you notice a big improvement with the 310 bios compared to the others?

I bet you will have great results on all your bh5 with the dfi.

eva2000

well first time used double sided BH-5 and it was with 310 bios never used prior bios for the ram so can't say.. only reason i updated to 310 is reported divider fixes and 218 bios i couldn't use DDR266 divider pc won't boot when i had 3200+ winnies heh

yeah throw everything you have at them - i think latest competition is to see who has fastest 32M superpi time :)

Well, I suppose all are BP 808, due to that OCZ BH-5 LE perform better than others BH-5 sticks.

"...When we asked OCZ about these improvements, they indicated that they were using a new PCB, which was designed to achieve higher clock rates with Winbond BH5 chips."

They helped me pass test #8 in memtest but that was before i figured out increasing LDT voltage and chipset voltage did the same thing = help pass test #8

aka helped the IMC ...

noticed it too with my 2x512 UTT, impoved the stability at 270Mhz++ in windows, raising the Vldt (to 1.5V)

keep up

I'm very happy that BH-5 is still alive. I'll be buying a DFI soon and was planning on getting some TCCD with it, BUT, after this thread I'll hold off and test my LvII Munchies first.:)
They haven't let me down yet and have been one of the better investments I have done to my PC.
I can get them to 250 @ 3.43 on an 875P sys. Can't wait to test them on an A64 sys. I'll put some benches up if they will help, but it'll be a little while though :(

I’ll be trying your bios settings EVA, thanks! :toast:

Same thing happen when i was using my BH 5/6 sticks on the POS K8N Neo2.
No matter which bios i tried my BH ram would max out around 230HT
Now on the DFI nF4 U-D and the sli-dr my BH ram is King again high 260HT
with 3.39V through them.

DFI nf4 with BH/VX ram is just superb :toast:

No probs REDKEN, yeah Neo2 doesn't like double sided BH-5 much but runs single sided BH-5 fine

:slobber: funny how after how many years of bh-5 being out it still kicks ass, that's rare in the pc world (unless you are talking about crt's)...

great job! :D and i wonder how you'd do with pelted ram, dont bh-5 sticks get really hot @ really high volts?

Heat isn't really an issue for most RAM, someone tried phase-changing their RAM and didn't even gain 3Mhz, its useless, a nice size fan works just as well.

Ive got a 2x 512mb Kingston HyperX PC3200 BH-5 and also the DFI nf4,

they do 260mhz 2-2-2-6 @ 3.5v

I have though not raised the LT voltage, maybe I'll try that ;)

eva2000, I had everything else just at auto.

I tried the excact same timings as you posted and I had to back down to 250mhz to get it memtest stable, I ran it all night at that settings, so its stable there

Didnt seem that more vdimm than 3.5v helped

I see yeah AUTO would be pretty loose timings for those advance bios mem timings :)
