I was wondering if people turns on the new pairs of LV Xeons and their future venice's and such powerful computers, we could make the difference with the first ones so little that we may overtake them...
What do you think?
We are now @ 390 days, but a month ago or so we were like 600 days away of them.
PD: excuse me for my poor english. I'll try to improve it :P
I remeber being 1300days behin #1 50day ago (approx) :stick:

Hi guys,
Excuse the noobish questions. First of all is this D20L stuff same as folding? Also where can you find out the rankings?
Is OCAU #1 at the moment?
Just some basic questions...

Well, like Rod said, Free-DC won’t go down without a huge fight. Free-DC has the potential to produce something like 30,000 a day. Once we are past Free-DC, then we will have smooth sailing. But until we have like a 50,000 cand lead, we aren’t safe. I can see #1 around February.

Well I will be able to ad about 20 computers running D2OL for one day soon.
We are doing a LAN-party at our school and the 6th (final) year of ICT are the "hosts" (with other words I am one of them) and ALL the computers there are prescotts 2.4Ghz'. Now I don't think their hyperthreading has been enabled or anything (OEM computers) but I still think they'll punch out a nice dosis of canidates when run for a whole day.
I'm thinking if I add them under my node I can even give some people a run for their money the day I dump :p:
Although soon afterwards my stats will plumit :(

#1 in 2005! I like it! I'm adding a dual Xeon rig here soon. And a P4E 2.8GHz that will easily OC to 3.55GHz on a good air setup. After that I'm going to maintain for a couple months...

yeah, if i swing my benjamins just the right way, i may have a dual athlon rig, possibly a celeron 2.6 (i know, but all helps and its cheap), and a sempron 2200+ added, not to mention the dothan rig which will be up by tomorrow when the cpu comes in hehehehe

It's a simple swap... 3.4 goes from XtremePC Into my main gaming rig... 3.0 goes out of my gaming rig and into the XtremePC.

Wish it was this year we'd get the number 1 slot but that prolly number 2 is a safe bet. I heard free dc can ramp to over 50 k if they went 100 percent D2ol. We have impressive out put heck I did a lot today :) HUK ^_^ HUK .... Our output is great wish we could do more but heck we are by far and wide the top producing team currently on day to day basis. Im betting on the 2nd spot whether that be behind DPC which they are only #1 cause they have such a far lead or Free DC if they ramp like crazy.

It's pretty easy to do, too. Just use task schedule to run a bat file to start them up an another bat file to shut them down. It would help a lot if you could get that worked out with him.

You can put them all under the same stats. You can make all of them crunch under 1 node by using the node.prp that the first machine you do creates on the other 24.
It's pretty easy and it's all in the stickies.

If you could do that, then I think we could definetly reach #1 by the end of the year. That alone would put out around 2500 a day (all of them). Just make sure the school doesnt find out. Maybe bring it up and see what they do. As far as setting it up, its not that hard. Download either rod's installer or the sengent version, download, and put it all under one account (screename). The one thing u might have to watch out for is the summer. I dont think they will let u keep them on over the summer break.

I think they are 2.8's w/HT but im not sure. Pretty sure on HT though. All 512 RAM.
Also have on 3500+ Machin and a P4 3.06 EE Machine in the room which we built from grants. I'll see what I can do guys. The .bat files sound cool btw

It wouldnt slow them down? Find that hard to beleive. We do Photo shop, LiveMotion, etc. Some pretty intense programs. But i'll check it out tmrw. I mean if they go for it, We realy have like 5+ labs of Computers lol. Something like 50 P4's and then probably 125 P3's. Now that would be somehting.( not happening )
But I can Probably get the 25 P4's and I can get about 15 -20 P3's both sets 3-4pm to 7AM

I would be happy to help in any way I can! Maybe a teleconference with the IT staff would be helpful.
I can also make a BAT file for you that would start and stop the clients at any time you desire... But this shouldn't be necessary as D2OL is designed to run at the lowest possible priority... so the second you fire up PhotoShop d2ol will back off. They only issue may be the RAM... but that is questionable if they all have 512 min.
If they are worried about performance than it would be just as good to run a single node on a HT rig. You won't get as many Cands but it would use 1/2 the physical mem. (On a 2.8E with a single node, HT enabled, you will get ~25 cands / 6hr update. As apposed to ~35)
Any way I can help I would be glad to do!

To take 1st place by end of the year we need to ramp up to 40k cands per day quickly. I should be doing 5500 a day once all DX rigs are up in a couple of weeks(running 8 of 15 now) so that's 2000 more.
Let's go get them.

I will upgrade from ~1000 (starting this Friday) to 1500 cands / day by the end of June... That's up 50% :D
Maybe if others with similar production do the same then we can hit that 40k a day starting from July...
What do you guys say?

Magnj -
We don't want you to get in trouble, but do the best you can! That amount of CPU power will certainly help our chances of making #1 by year's end. I would recommend what Rod said, just run one instance on the HT machines, that will reduce the memory footprint, and still have good output via the primary thread handler.
With the D2OLDaddy program standalone or as part of an installer, D2OL runs at the lowest possible priority in Windows 2000/XP. What this means is, D2OL will only use SPARE CPU cycles. All other applications will take priority and reduce the CPU cycles dedicated to D2OL, to zero if higher priority apps require full CPU load. Basically, apart from the memory D2OL uses, it does not slow down other running applications, no matter how system intensive they are.
For simplicity's sake I would recommend you assign a different node to each machine, simply run the necessary batch file on each machine and you're good to go, no copying involved. 25-30 machines fighting over task assignments from the same node is also a bad idea IMHO . . .
Good luck man!
