Got my new vid card yesterday. elsa x800 pro vivo (came from JNav). it already had the 16 pipes unlocked, was flashed but flashed back to the pro vivo bios.
anyways, i put it in my shuttle and was running nfsu2 with 4x aa and 16x af and with full quality etc. 520/560. it was running fine.
i downloaded a new copy of 3D Mark 01 today and installed it. turned off the aa and af and seletced performance etc. just for a test, to see what the card has to give.
i clocked the card to 500/500 and ran 3d mark 01, it cut out at the start of car high (when the car does down the ditch and does a little jump up) it went back to the desktop, well it was a black desktop, no icons but the task bar was showing. it froze my system. having to restart.
my 3800+ was @ stock settings... 200x12, auto voltage. corsair xms xl pro @ 200 2-2-2-5, auto voltage etc... everything really stock apart from the video card @ 500/500.
weird thing is that i tried clocking the card down but ati tool encountered problems and wouldnt open... strange things going on.
can anyone shed any light so I can bench for XS :D

Car high is not too intensive so that is strange
First thing I would do is uninstall 3dmark2001 and download install again to make sure that is fine.

Ive done that... still the same thing :(
hmmm that is very odd. What drivers you using for the x800pro? I would try reinstalling the system and video drivers. normally when 3d01 crashes to the desktop it is normally caused by the cpu being clocked too high and is not quite stable which should be the case when your entire sytem is near stock settings.

well I restored all defaults in bios. 256mb aperture.
clocked the car to stock... reinstalled 3d mark 01 and still the same... when it says locked on car high this is when it locks up and goes to a black screen with the task bar.
all i want is to bench my card, even at stock speeds... is that too much to ask?

just an idea, you try different drivers? Does it work in games and other applications fine?

yea it works alright in games and such like... just not 3d mark 01. using the latest cats.
Maybe needs a little more Vgpu. Also, what PSU are you using? If it is your Antec TC, make sure the +5v rail is maxed out. Why didn't you mention this when you were on Msn to me earlier? :p

its in the shuttle ;)
sorry for not mention it :P
well I restored all defaults in bios. 256mb aperture.
Set aperture to 64mb. My x800p only ran well with 64 or 128. But it might be unique to my mobo, still, give it a try.

yea tried, 64mb, 128mb and 256mb, still all the same :(
tried to run nature on its own and it says the "countered a problem and needs to close error right away"
i really hate this situation... why cant it just work.

Also it might be the pro VIVO BIOS you flashed to that is causing the problem. You might want to flash back to the XT BIOS that enabled the extra pipes and try that. Did you back up the BIOS that was on the card when you received it?
Also does it crash out on 3d03, 3d05, aquamark, prime95?

for some reason 3d mark 03 wont install... cuts out just after i click next on the destination install part.
about the bios on the x800 pro vivo... the extra 4 pipes are enabled but its flashed with a pro bios... im going to try and flash to an xt pe bios in a second.
