Hi,
I got dual evga 6800ultra pcie card and I would like to increase the voltage to 1.5v in order to allow more stable overclocking. I tried Nibitor but it seems it doesnt support very well my cards, and also it's limited to 1.4v.
I was wondering if anyone here would be willing to help me mod my bios so it uses 1.5v and boot with 425/1100 for 2d and 3d speed.
Also, actually if I overclock too much my cards, artifacts begins to appear, is it right that if I up the voltage, these will go away ? or its just a temp problem ?
I didnt change the original heatsink of my cards, and thus would it be wise to mod my bios to have 1.5v or will it heat too much ?
I would like to be able to overclock to a stable 450/1150, however currently artifacts appear very fast, with a coreclock of around 430.

Hmm, I'm a total newb on bios editing and monitoring. I saw on a forum someone saying his default voltage for 6800ultra pcie was 1.43 so I took it it was same for me.
How did you check the default voltage on your card ? Did you then increase higher than 1.55 ?
Also, do you have trouble too doing some overclocking ?

Normal voltage should be 1.4v and you could change it in the BIOS to do 1.5v. You can use NiBiTor to do those BIOS changes.

curious, after you flash the bios with the higher voltage, is there any way to make sure that the new voltage is there? Just check for a temp increase or higher clocks?

Well then can you provide your BIOS? Then we can have a look and so to fix this if possible in a upcoming new release. :-)

I sent xtremetheme my bios which he edited to allow 1.5v on my eVGA 6800U pci-e. After the flash my card didn't have any video output at all. It wasn't a big deal to fix but it makes me question if the cards will allow 1.5v. I have e-mailed him back my cards reaction to the flash and I havn't heard anything back yet. So at this point im starting to question a hard mod for +.24 volt and then edit my bios down to 1.3v for the extra .15 volt.

I tried Nibitor, however it seems I can't go higher than 1.4v for my cards The drop down menu won't have it. Go up to the top select TOOLS>HEXVIEW
Then click the Voltages Tab, then click on the 3d voltage drop down menu and re-select 1.4
Over in the hexview you will see it jump to a specific part of the code and for 1.4v it will be shown as 8C....to change it from 1.4v to 1.5 you need to change it from 8C to 96
Then save your new BIOS.
We're actually wondering if there is a hardware limitation on the 6600GT in that thread. Appearantly atleast one person tried the BIOS I changed for him in the same manner I told you and he said it worked no problem, but he hasnt noticed any temp rises or higher OC's so we're not 100% sure if it's worked.

Cool, thx for the info, however, the 2d clock speed for cpu/ram is all messed up, wont it cause problems if I install the bios ?
