I posted this in AMD section, but here is my first 30K. Had to post it here in the 3D Team section of course! Got the chip yesterday...working out the kinks with my board that doesnt officially support it

Probably when oc'ed this cpu is the best way to support the power of the R520, right?

Nice mobo ;)
Pretty good OC for a "server" chip IMO :D What'cha got cooling the beast?

yea my 2.6 winny is beating his ch and lh but server chips arent really for gaming, the platform isnt optimized, the registered ram it requires has high latency but very stable. Most people dont even overclock server platforms so im not supprised at the low overclock. anyway I cant wait to see what can be done with venice and diego :slobber:

What can I say other than this 30k was a quicky run, and no offense, I dont think you can fairly compare your winchester to this chip just quite yet and especially on one 3dm01 run :stick:
BTW, the ram runs pretty decent timings up to 228 2-3-2 and 230+ with 2-4-3
Yeah its no FX-55 running 2-2-2 260mhzHTT 1:1...
And no I havent gotten win2k yet

Thx:) Cooling is DD TDX on the opty, swifty mcw50 on the 6800u (1.4v), mcp600 and twin swifty rads. It's a sweet little setup. Temps with 218x13 (2.83ghz) are 29idle and 42 load, but that might be a huge lie from my mobo. I would benefit from a BIOS update for sure. It's all screwy in the BIOS :(
My vcore adjustments are all wack too.
Don't count this chip out from 3ghz just yet. :banana4:
Looks good man, did you ever figure out why the vcore was at 1.6? Isn't it supposed to be lower? Keep pushin for 3ghz...
I was just about to ask what cooling you had on the gpu, pretty nice clocks there.

judgeing by fx scorees, even if its not good for gaming id say a few more k should go your way

Yes, the vcore at 1.6v was too high for stock. I'm running about 1.46 right now and it limits me to about 2835ghz :toast:
To get up above 2.9+ghz I need 1.57v, lower than that and I get an endless loop of reboot with corrupt cmos :D . I think I've done BIOS recovery 3 times already from trying to get the vcore adjustments down. Not used to a chip doing these speeds with only 1.45v :p: Probably benfit from a newer BIOS from Asus too, we'll see about that. Not sure(yet)if more volt will help get to and beyond 3ghz.
I ran some PI with non patched, SSE2, and SEE3 patches 16million test for comparo. I'll post it in the Xtreme Pi section if anyone is interested. I think you will be suprised with the numbers:)

I believe the diegos are what will show us impressive overclocks since the mobo and ram will oc better, opterons arent made for ocing, they are server cpus. still thanks for the time showing us a preview of 90nm goodness

DPA, I saw your score days ago and immediately was like, crap I gotta take down DPA! Got you in 2 of 7 tests though, lol.
:toast:
They guy with 34k (not Shamino's) is driving me crazy, every test i am ahead, but he has *cough* 100plus frames on me in Nature? WTF?
Anyway, thanks, and I am not done yet:) I think I have a copy of win2k coming:) and I havnt done the ACPI multi tweak yet or the others. Not to mention the max benchable of this cpu has not been found yet.
Finally I can compete again in 3d03 too! :banana4:
you have a PM doctor ;)
Looking better and better
Multi apic, win2k, and dx8 should give you a nice little boost...watch out DPA :p:

Sigh....cannot publish anything in '03 and '05 because of "Unknown cpu" no matter what settings...Email sent to FM. I got a really nice '03 score too:(
Is this an opteron WR? I have not seen higher...

"opterons arent made for ocing, they are server cpus."
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
NO CPU's are made with ocing in mind, contrary to what you may think.
on topic
excellent score, i am sure once you have time to tweak a little that score will push up some more.
i am jealous. :slobber:

thx, waiting for futuremark to allow me to publish with this chip, until then I am lurking in the shadows...
FM swears this week the opty 252 is added into the hardware loop, we will see...

hadnt thought of that, but makes sense...his description doesnt say though...
I did see that the top score (which was a fake) got zapped:) Lardarse's run is still tops after almost a year!

All indications say this chip would run well with really cold temps.
send me the phase change and I will do my best :)

would you say that this is the best ocing board for 940 as ive heard not so good thing from the SK8N NF3's???

Hey Chemical I posted some of this stuff like 2 weeks ago man...:)
here is a unpatched run for ya though
http://img80.exs.cx/img80/8357/29seconds9az.th.jpg (http://img80.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img80&image=29seconds9az.jpg)
For a non-server/workstation motherboard, the SK8V is still the best single cpu 940 board available. I'm pretty sure some big players around here used the sk8v at one point last year...
It has no bus locks though, so a pci controller is a must. Overall the board is very fast gaming board though:)
It's hard to recommend it though, just b/c of the lack of bus lock issue on the Via chipset. ;)
The nF3 board, the sk8n I would avoid...
the guy with 100 fps more nature, is he using sli? That would indeed explain the huge boost in nature...
This post has some good info on SLI and 2001:

Perhaps we should look for the NF4 professional mobos? :D Wanna see a 3ghz opty benchie! :toast:
