According to this review:

The plain AN8 board only supports 1.75vcore, whereas the Fatal1ty board supports 1.85. Do you think this could be fixed with a modded BIOS?

Um both boards have 1.75 vcore with 90 nm cpus and 1.85 with 13 micron.

ill try this bios today tictac. I got vdimm btw but i havent figured out a vtt mod yet :(

So far ive had the board to 385 fsb stable and was able to get into windows once at 399 real quick but not stable I think there is a artificial lock in place maybe you can take a look at it. If anyone wants screenies of 375fsb and up let me know.

Might add i used no nf4 volts or htt volts to get this high and i accidentaly ran up to 375 fsb with a ht multi of 3x and no probs i prolly could of kept going but didnt want to take any chances.

In that case...what exactly is the point of the Fatal1ty version? It looks great. But other than that the only difference I know if is more S-ATA & the RAMFlow. What am I missing that makes it cost $50 more?

P.S. What do you mean you've got the Vdimm? Could my BH-5 get some lovin' with this board?

well nf4 supports sata 300 and the ram cooler i found in a store today its not the same but same style costs $28 US theres some other small stuff the ultra supports but i can't remember what although you can try pencil modding your nf4 to nf4 ultra.

yes bh 5 can get some loving however i havent found vtt volt mod yet and im not really that good at vtt mods and since vtt doesnt track vdimm is kinda useless. Btw im using bh5 myself also. Unfortunately this is also my stable gaming rig sooo vtt mod is gonna have to wait till after this monday when i can take board out again.

EDit fatality differences from an8
a memory slot cooler cost average $20 Us
sata 300 support
nvidia firewall
leds on back of mobo
blood red mobo that goes nicely with a radeon card such as my X800 XL.

thats about it i got my board for $180 the an8 goes for $140-$150.

some new stuff Abit bring in Cebit 2005 :hehe:

The Fatal1ty Platinum front panel is based upon Abit's uGuru technology. Which alows the monitoring of different system parameters and the influencing control possible on these. Featuring conectors for a microphone, headset, firewire device and 2 usb devices. It also feasture a CMOS reset button, protected by a small flap, making the use of the on board jumpers and battery redundant.

The µGuru Clock III is the next generation, which is extended by a few buttons along with Skype functionality. Up to 5 Skype user profiles can be selected at the push of a button. In addition the µGuru Clock III possesses its own audio codec as well as sockets for a Headset, so that within Skype the µGuru audio device can be selected. Music rendition is therefore made by the loudspeakers attached at the computer, while over the Headset Skype delivers the call seperatly.

The Abit RocketBoy special edition uGuru clock, it is apparently identical to the standard silver uGuru clock. Yet it is completely in red and a special edition only for China.

Below are pictures of the Zalman Fatal1ty CPU and GPU coolers, Abit Fatl1ty Platinum panel, uGuru Clock III and Abit RocketBoy uGuru clock respectively

Do you know if anyone has done this successfully? :)

The other difference as far as I know is that the Ultra has the hardware accelerated firewall on the gigabit ethernet.

In attempted the pencil mod on my vanilla AN8 and it wasn't successful. I would love to see if someone could figure it out since it might be some other bridges on the nf4 chip that needs to be closed. Does anyone have the nf4 chips schematics?

Maybe you guys can give me your added support on this thread. If we get enough people requesting this maybe abit will cater to our needs. After all this is what OPP did in the ati forum and look what happened.

please keep the 1337 lingo out of thread. I just want abit to know that there are enthusiasts that would very much appreciate this and not only that but if we could get this we would be more apt to reccomend theyre board to other enthusiasts.

yellow is winbond green is texas instruments.

the one next to the ddr diims opposite of the cpu socket is an 8 pin that looks similar to the one i modded for vdimm on an old epoxsocket 462 board.

the one above the ddr dimm in yellow is also winbond and it has 14 pins.

then the ones circled from right to left starting above the ddr dimms are as follows 14 pin then 8 pin then 16 pin all texas instruments chips.

i did not test for voltage at these as i used a cap voltage and atx connector voltage.

http://members.cox.net/italygirl25/3voltline.bmp

theres 3.3 volts at that mosfet

it goes directly to that 8 pin IC next to ddr dimms there is a very tiny looks like a resistor inline before it raches the IC. after the resistor on the last leg on the bottom of IC it connects i measure 3.4v there.
the labeling on the chip is
W83
3100S
448L8
ill measure voltage on other side of IC in a bit

Well i say it doesnt but havent tried. It has Vtt adjustment from 1.25-1.4 in bios. where as other 939 board i have used did not have the adjustment in bios. abit considers high limit 3.1v vddr and 1.55v vtt however you can shut the auto shutdown and beep off for the high limit on these. As this is my everyday gaming rig now I however am not going to crank the vddr up via my cap mod and assume that vtt tracks and possibly kill this board. Board cost me $180 gskill f1 la pc3200 will cost me $147. Id rather just buy the gskill than see how high my bh5 will go plus i already have this prime stable at 2.4 8x300 all i have to do is add ram and run 1 to 1 now. and i doubt my bh5 can run 1/1 at this speed

I wouldn't say crappy though situman. I have run the HT all the way up to 385 stable without any voltage increase (see a few posts above). I'm also running at 2.4 gig with the same cpu that i had all kinds of trouble with on my giga board trying to run above 2.2gig stable and its stable at 2.4 gig now. Not to mention its a very stable board out of the box that works. It just lacks what voltages some of us enthusiasts would like.
Which is why I have Emailed abit and started a thread in abit support and also kind of slapped them around in the abit fatality forum. Whether or not they will release an enthusiast bios if they even can is just a matter of time now. We shall see what they say in reply.
If not I might be ordering a an8 vanilla as a guniea pig to test some volt mods on before i volt mod the expensive preetier version....

Heh maybe tictac can just mod the bios period although I have almost no issues with it cept for temps and lack of voltage for memory. I really would like to give my bh5 some loving but am getting the itch to buy some tccd so i can run this 1/1 prime stable with a 3000+ at 8x300 have memory set at 200 with a 266mem divider atm 6000 in sandra makes me cry :(

As long as the mod is easy to do I don't mind beeing able to adjust the vtt manually. In some cases the memory have performed better with 60-70% of vdimm as vtt instead of 50%.

Is that the IC with this text on it:
W83
3100S
448L8

*EDIT* It doesn't say: "W83310DS"
With a D instead of a 0?
Because that's the only similar IC I can find from Winbond.

*EDIT again*
That could definitly be the right IC
"Power Management -- W83310DS
2 Amp DDR Bus Termination Regulator; For Intel Springdale GMCH-VTT"
I guess they could use the same regulator for their AMD boards as their Intel boards.

Problem is they don't have a datasheet for this IC on their page. I haven't had any luck in asking Winbond about datasheets before, but I know others have managed to get them. If we can get them it should be a problem to figure out where to mod it.
