Hey guys i need some info on the XFX 6800 Ultra PCI-E volt mods.. THere one guid floating around but it seems my PCB board layout is different.. Has anyone volt modding one of these boards before??

Can you post a pic of the card?

Thanks for the response!
Here ya go..

I have tried the pencil trick and it got it at 1.74 Ohms and when i went to take a voltage reading i noticed that the resistor layout was different.. I took a reading from a spot i thought was the same and it only showed 1.52v and that cant be right cause after flashing the bios that i modded to 1.5v and after doing the pencil trick i should be around 1.67-1.7v.

Go to the small chip on the back of the board near the power connector and opposite the goldfingers. You should have penciled the 4th resistor from the edge of the pcb. 3 resistors, open space and then the next resistor. It should have a defualt value of 8.05m ohms. I set mine to 7.7 and gained 45mhz on the core but I don't have a read point yet.

Yeah thats what i did.. I was able to go from 450 to a messily 476.. I was hoping to get a voltage reading since i'm unsure of the current voltage.. I was sure to go much further after a .2 increase.

I was able to bench @ 496 core with the mod at 7.7 so it may just be a difference in the brands. The BFG's are 425 core stock. I will work on finding that read point.

Read off any 1 of these amd cap points along that row,

You might have penciled too much, if you drop the resistance too much, voltage will decrease.

Just re-penciled to 7.4m ohms and got a reading of 1.66 volts on the core.

1.7v gpu#1 and 1.668v on gpu#2, Thats the max I can get. Resistors are reading 7.5 and 7.51m ohms.

2fast! Thanks for your response again man! hehe Last night while i was in bed i was re thining about what you said and what i said.. You said it should read 7.4Ohms and mine was only 1.74POhms.. hmmm i said.
So lucky today i pulled the cover off my case and took another reading and said no :banana::banana::banana::banana:!! Then i cleaned off the resistors and all it would climb to was 1.82ohms.. So i keep trying to clean them off till i stopped and thought after testing all the resistors around that one.. I'm setting the damn DMM at the wrong setting! Oh my god!! I've always set it at Ohms in the past and i solder crap all the time. I never thought i had to adjust the ohms to read this right! hehehe.. So i slapped it at 20K ohms and took a reading and yup.. 8.2ohms :) hahaha I feel like a rookie! I've known to adjust the DMM when i take readings for DCV and ACV but i never knew i had to do the same for ohms..
So now.. what a bish to get that right on with the pencil! Adjusting both sucked. I'm at 482Mhz right now.. I only set it at 7.7ohms.. I'll have to suffer and get it right on 7.2-7.4Ohms.
Thx for the info LardArse! heheh nice name.. I'll have to get that reading now.
Also anyone know if the mem volt mod is the same for this XFX 6800 PCI-E card as the one in the guide?

Whoa.. damn thank goodness i took a reading before i re did the pencil mod.. I'm at a solid 1.78v and both cards!
Damn so thats the top overclock i can get with all that voltage.. 482Mhz.. Man i really was hoping for 500... i still hope for 1300Mhz on the mem.

Oh.. forgot! hehe.. I just scored a new high on 3dmark 2k3. First run after the new overclock.. 25,083. Is that good? I scored at 24,600 before.

:) hehe.. Sorry about that! Prob just the new 75 something drivers i just tried.
Scored 11,775 in 2k5! :) Damn close but no 12,000.
