Anyone have any idea how they would overclock, etc. ?

Apparently they only made this speed chip w 256K cache. But am curious.

I contacted a reseller who says he has them. Trying to find out what sSpec and what he wants for them. Could these be run at 2.8 to 3.2? What would they put out in candidates? How much would the fact that they have half the cache affect their candidate production? Does cache play a factor ( would a 1MB cache chip of the same speed put out more than a 512K chip, for instance )? I told him that if the price was right, we have a whole team that might be interested.

I think cache does affect overall output (http://www.d2ol.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=15;t=000007). As far as how much, I'm not sure. The lower cache may allow higher OC though. Get a test set and try them out.

if they have 256k L2, then their 180nm chips I believe. Remember the Willimete...yeah. It can't do 3.2ghz...2.2ghz i would say is tops

I agree 100%...the chips with 256kb of L2 are completely useless...avoid at all costs. The only way such a chip would be of any value, is if you were a corporation who had a server run with those chips and had one die, or wanted to add a second chip to an existing one.

Otherwise...they are pretty much paperweights...:)

Gotcha, thanks a lot!

The 1.8s should be ok, though?
All have 512K cache and are 130nm?

Or, do they have to be LV to OC?

the normal ones will still overclock...I just don't know how far....I mean...I would guess about the same as a Pentium 4 at the same clock
