View Full Version : Avatar Image Type

Is there any contraint as to what type of image your avatar is? If not which kind of image (gif, jgep, png) would be best to be able to get an avatar very close to 180x180. i also want decent resolution so you will be able ot tell what youre looking at.

Any of them I think would do fine. I use jpg, but then again, there's no animation there

i wasnt looking for animation, im looking for a large image size. When i make images as large as 180x180 their file size goes up too high. Ive only tried jpeg but i was wondering if gif or png was any better

you need to use image compression.

I usually use at least 30%, maybe 20 if I need detail but even up to 50% has plenty depending on the image size.

Big image in my sig is only 15k IIRC.

yea i tried other formats and im just not sure what to use, i even used Jpeg compression and couldnt get it down to 16kb that was still acceptable.

Im trying to use the mage below and keep it as close to 180x180 as possible. What should i do?

Problem solved :D ....at least I hope it is :)

EDIT: The test.jpg file is one that I lowered the quaility on...the other one is just opening the file in paint and changing it to .jpg format

If you design your image carefully you can express alot without much size. Mine is only 1.2KB and has the power to offend hundreds of people in seconds, I don't think even the latter can be said for many other avatars or sigs.

lol craig, i'm not sure if everyone gets what your avatar is saying though ;)

I could make mine a few kb smaller I guess, but I like it how it is :D

i would really like to use that image, i love The Punisher movie.

Nice avatar craig, yea i do get it too and no it doesnt offend me, i agree with it!

Edit- Sorry JJcom i didnt see your post, thanks for the work though, love the new avatar!
