View Full Version : Ultra-d Ram help
Heya all, i cant seem to get my ram stable at 260mhz, its fine at 240mhz with 2.5,3,3,7 with 2.7v but at 260 i tried around 2.5,4,4,7 and 2.85v, is there other options i should be changing?
Right now I am running at 270HTT stable with timings
of
2.5-4-3-8 Vdimm 2.9
I would say to try Rgones settings from http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5844
there .. I have some things set at auto, but try 2.5-4-3-8 with those settings as a start..

I really think that the problem isn't the ram. I have the same ram as you and the same board and I get it 2.5-4-3-7 @ 300mhz htt @ 2.6V. The problem could be the cpu mem controller....did you tried raising the cpu voltage??
Yeah somewhat, how would i get around cpu 2500mhz and 270mhz ram what memlock is that?
1:1 1T 2.5-4-3-7, trcd seems to have a large impact on the OC for me at least..
Also 2.9Vdimm almost seems required with my board, I will test with lower voltages later though...
I forget, what option in the bios is for setting to 1t or 2t?
correct, but your ram should be able to do 1T 270, try 3-3-3-8
or even try 2.5-4-4-7, use rgones settings as a base, they seem to be pretty good for getting things going,
I also reset my ram in there dimms and that seemed to help.. I also upped chipset and LDT voltage...
I also disconnected any unused hardware (ie, my case usb and firewire) and that seemed to help...
I also cleared the CMOS by moving the jumper and then letting it sit for 30+ seconds, hitting the cmos reset button after I flashed bios.. before I couldnt even get stock settings to run stable but now im at 270HTT about 3 hours prime stalbe so far, and it passed 8M Superpi so Im hoping overnight it all works out..
What would be better for games, 2.5-4-4-7 or 3-3-3-7? and what ratio would get me like 2500mhz and 265mhz ram?
Well, for 270 you have a number of options since you have a 3500.. You can run 10 * 250 if your chip can handle it, try 2.5-3-3-7 with rgones settings to that should at least get you into windows, run SuperPi 8M see if it passes.. if it does try priming for stability testing..
well 250*10 will only get me 250mhz for my ram
whats cpu thermal trottling do?
Thermal CPU throttoling tells the computer to power down if it gets above a certain temp... i left mine at default...
Try 278 * 9 if you want your ram that high, probably the best you can do to keep ram 1:1...
Also, you could to 11*230 and have the ram at really tight timings... i would test both to see how they do ...
Yeah, but maybe first i should see what my cpu can do max with it stable i guess.. 278mhz seems a little high for ram, i dont want to go past 2.9v to void the warranty just yet :D
It shoudlnt need more Vdimm to get higher, just looser timings... OCZ reps say that more voltage shoudlnt make a diffrence.. and recommend trying to goto 3-3-3-10 3-4-3-10 3-4-4-10 when u get higher..
Oh, maybe ill try and get the tightest timings around 260mhz then, and see if my beautfil cbbid can do 2600
