Tonight, I'm doing some not so xtreme cold air benching tonight with my new setup. Specs in sig.
I'll be benching SuperPI:
My Personal Best! 35 seconds (http://images.golivewire.com/ib/5074_f.jpg)
As well as Renderbench: Current best 3 minutes 56 seconds.
I've opened my case all up, Opened the window (left the window screen) and sat my case in it. The only change I'm doing to my sysem (other than more overclocking of course) is taking out the 1gb of crap ram I have and placing in 256mb of Mushy bh-6.
Here's the current setup:

Lets hope I get some good numbers tonight! I'm going to update this as I continue. Everything is on air.

I sometimes do something kinda similar. Living in South Dakota its way to cold to actually open a window at night but I have taken dryer hose and run it from the outside right onto my tornado. 11.5*240 with only 1.800vCore and 11C at full load with prime95. Had to wrap my rig up in blankets though to keep from freezing my arse off in my living room :D

COME ON BABY POST! :'(
I set the HTT to 280 X 4, it posted and locked up.
I turned it off, on and no post.
I now can't get it to post. Hoping I haven't killed something.

After taking the entire rig apart twice, numerous cmos clears, etc. I'm back up and going. Its still giving me that error but only with my Mushkin memory.

Still pushin for more. :toast:
You should come to where I live, it's -30 C outside here right now :D
Which reminds me I'd better plug in the block heater in my car or I won't be able to pick up my new cpu later today :)

That would be a great place to bench!
Damn, I think my main 40gb seagate died. It started giving me horrible noises and then, "unmountable boot volume" blue screens on boot even @ stock speeds.
I am letting my whole rig warm up, hoping my drive is fine. If not its a lesson learned. Could the cold have damaged it? I am going to get myself a drive with a fully tweaked OS dedicated to benching. At least I shaved 2 seconds off of my old time tonight. I'm happy!
I really want 32 seconds. It is supposed to be colder tomorrow! By tomorrow night I should also have one of my old drives fully tweaked and ready.

-30?????????
how do you guys manage? :stick:
During the winter it's a great place to bench, during the summer it's usually 20-30 C plus.
As for your 40GB disk.. I think as long as at least it is detected you should be fine. It seems like you're gonna have to reinstall (or try fixing it with some tools from the ultimate boot cd). When mine die they usually are no longer detected..
@ calcal
I live in the north of Sweden.. Just a few miles under the arctic cirlcle :) It's not always -30 here.. But usually goes down to -40 a couple of days every winter. This year the coldest has been -32 or something so its a relatively warm winter :D
Average temps during winter are like somewhere between -15 and -20 if I'd have to guess..

I have had many several drives that were still detected but didn't work. I think its probably shot. Maybe it'll work once its warmed up!

Darn, the hard drive is dead. It won't format. I wish I hadn't lost some of that data. This goes to show that you don't use your primary windows installation for cold weather benching! :p

I wrap the HDD in a towel or something if its gonna be where the weather is around -10c or colder.
Small towel though, dont want it to overheat.

Well it was about -15 or -20C here. Good advice, thanks.
Actually 38 degrees F is plus 3 degrees C so it was far from -15 or -20.
Sorry for your harddrive tho, that sucks :(
