Hey Guys,
as some of you may well know I am considdering to go liquid cooling.
I have been looking at the recommendations on this forum and spoken to some members via MSN messenger about pumps and waterblocks and have come up with the following list of watercooling parts to possibly get:

Danger Den RBX - Athlon64/FX/Opteron 1/2" ID Water Block Price: $52.95
Tygon Anti-Kink 1/2" ID (5/8" OD) Tubing Price: $3.25
1/2" UV Reactive Leakproof Y Fitting Price: $2.75
Swiftech Green UV Reactive HydrX Coolant Price: $10.00
Swiftech MCP650™ 12v Water Pump w/ 3/8" Conversion Kit Price: $89.95
Primochill Typhoon 120X Reservoir LARGE - CLEAR Price: $28.95
HeaterCore from a 77chevell - 302 Core

Please tell me what you think of the list and tell me if you would change anything... This is quite a bit over my budget of roughly $100 (£50) Though I think if I look in the right places I can get the parts quite alot more cheaper...

Thanks,
Alec

Get ClearFlex Tubing its alot cheaper, and just as or almost as good as Tygon.

Drop the Resivoir and get a T-Line. To save some money.

um, go wit hteh mcp600 from cooltechnica. Its called the Aquaextreme 50Z. Its quiter and more powerful. Why do you have 3/8 on the pump when u have 1/2inch everywehre else??

Oh and try to get a 5/8OD fittings for the Y fitting. It will help improve flow.

You can ditch the hydrx and get Zerex at your local autoparts store for about 7 dollars for a large amount of it.

The AquaXtreme has less GPH and the same head as the MCP650. Altho it is quieter then the MCP650, you really can't hear the MCP650 over the fans and HDDS. I have two 650s in series two feet from my head right now and can't hear them. If you wish to have a stronger pump get the MCP350. It has less flow then the others but has a higher head rating.

You must have some pretty obnoxious fans and hard drives if you can't hear 2 650s. Either that or you are deaf.

klown the 600 has a stronger pq curve for the needs of pc cooling. from the 0-2.5~ gpm range it has more head presssure and this is where we need it. Becuase of this it is the better choice. It also runs with HALF the heat dump and many subjective reports tell me that it is considerably quieter than the 650... and for the same price... make your decision.

Hey Guys,
after reading hte discussion above about what pump I should go for; I think I might change my mind and go for the mcp600 from cooltechnica.
Only problem I face is availability... I live in the UK but have been using the frozencpu.com website to find my watercooling parts since it exports to england aswell as the US.
Unfortunatelly the pummp you are recommending me is not on that site... I shall look on other sites and possibly ebay to get it cheap...

Any UK watercooling site recommendations would be most helpful!

only www.cooltechnica.com carries it. Talk to the owner of the site. He has hooked up several XS and Procooling members up in the UK with these pumps. He will be able to find you very reasonable shipping and will help you out with the nasty UK customs and VAT.

I was running three 120mm Enermax adjustable speed fans @ 7volts and 4 maxtor HDDs. Only time I was able to hear the pumps was when I was filling the system and only the pumps were running.

By any chance do you have a link on this. As everywhere I have looked the 650 came out on top. Cause the 50z has 187gph and alittle over 10 foot head and the 650 has 317gph and alittle over 10 foot head.

yah the numbers are wrong.. hte 50Z has more head... ive seen those numbers too.. check out www.procooling.com.. look into the forums in the high end watercooling section and look for a post called "how much pump is enough, too much?" or something similar.. its written by cathar.. that will give you ALLL the info you will need.

In flow terms, there's pretty much no difference between the 600 and 650 in a typical system. The 600 wins though because it dumps a lot less heat into the loop.

Butcher, the flow difference is greater than you would think... though i have found that some testers report tha the 50Z has less head which is absolute garbage.. so things do get mucked up.

Check that out - almost nothing in it flow wise. The lower heat from the 600 is good though.

:p: either way 50Z is better....
