I have a 6800NU in another rig of mine, it's made by PNY and has stock cooling. It wont do 400/800 or 390/790 stable. It does 362/762 stable. Does my card just suck at overclocking? I'm using cool bits with Xtreme G 71.81 drivers. Is puting a NV Silencer 5 on this card worth it, will it get me 400/800 stable? My temps are 59-62 idle. Any tips would be great, thanks.

neat... but in all seriousness did you try to open the pipes(clock prior to and after would be good)? What are you system details(ps etc...)? we need more info. BTW welcome to xtreme, hope we dont help you kill too much hardware lol

Well my MSI can 6800 can do 420MHz 100% stable. And my ASUS V9999GE did from 350MHz to 450MHz.

Are you sure its not overheating? Those temps are pretty high....

I've taken the heatsink off and replaced it will some AS5 2 times, my temps have always been around 59-62.

I've got a BFG 6800OC an nu that I opened the pipes on. My core doesn't make 400 in the few times I've tried pushing it. Usually about 385 is where I run. last time I tried 390 far cry locked up. My memory on the other hand does great. I've benched 880. I agree with the above that with high ambient/idle temps you've got problems that an NV5 maight help alittle but not cure. You need some better ventilation. Even a side panel off with a fan blowing on it may be ghetto but it works...I've done it many times. Good luck with your 6800

I'm using the PNY 6800 also, and mine runs at your hot temps too, even in a well-ventilated case. With all pipes enabled w/Rivatuner, Coolbits detects 397/843 (71.20 drivers) and I can run 3D benches and games at that setting. Upgrading my PSU boosted my clocks and I'm considering the Silencer or new Zalman GPU cooler to improve further.

Yeah load temps would offer more insight.

I'm using a modded bios for my Axle 6800. With the stock cooling (pretty big but aluminium) I did 420 core speed rock stable, but it was really HOT (my Axle is perfect, but doesn't have anything to measure the temps with), so I used it 24/7 at 400mhz. I did it with a modded bios with 1.4V core voltage. It isn't problem for the core. It will run with good cooling at 1.6V, but the problem with 6800NU cards is, that everything above 1.4 can burn the voltage regulator. 6800U has 2 molex connectors not accidentaly !
If you want the bios I can send it to you.

my V9999GE(6800nu) could do 425/1100 with full 16p, 6vp units enabled on stock cooling. first check how good the stock cooling is making contact with the core and memory, sometimes manufacturers don't properly install the hsf correctly. then , you'll probably have to bios flash gpu to 1.4v in 3d mode. however, a 6800nu with locked pipes should all do at least 385 core on stock cooling.
