Hi guys, this is my first post on your forums. I am trying to figure out the best case/watercooling combo I can get for the money.........Lately I have had bad luck.
I just setup my new watercooling case. And let me just state with my Zalman and reading temps through CoreCenter I was getting between 34-37C idle temp and between 44-48C load temps.
I set this case up thinking I should see drastic drop in load temps and significant drops in idle temps. however, this is nowhere near the case and the idle is actually between 37C-38C and load is around 48-51C.
It appears I did not move at all in temps or stayed the same approx. My question is....what gives? Did I screw up? Did I put the AS5 on wrong?
Also, is the temperature sensor from koolance even close to being accurate?? How do we ever get an accurate reading?

u cant get an accurate reading.
u only cool the cpu, do you ?
all in all koolance isnt the best choice in the regard of watercooling :/
is the cpu-cpucooler contact ok ?
do you get warm water ? this will show us, if any die contact is available.

u think that this could help him ?
anyway, which koolance unit do you have.
i only know the one in the cs601 with a triple radiator on the top.
could you make a pic of the coolingstuff?
the cpu cooler should screwed down as far as u cant push it around.
but when your water gets hot/warm the die contact is ok.

Sorry for not being more specific.
I am using the 300G CPU cooler and that is the only cooler in the loop. I have the PC2-601 case. It has 3 fans on top. I have put in 2 more case fans in the back and one in the front. It still idles hot!!!!
I think this may be due to all the hardware being inside the case. HardOCP said that the Exos actually cools better than their new cases that have the same equipment. I reapplied AS5 and used a very very thin layer.
What can you guys recommend as a better kit around $200ish. Also, what cases does the danger den setups fit best in?

hahah scottfern I see you are unsatified with your answer but welcome to XSforum :) Anyways I would recommend a weapon heatercore and shroud, you can contact him for more prices. Im pretty sure everyone in here would agree the weapon heatercore+shroud is by far the best bang for the buck. It'll cost somehwere around 75 dollars for a painted piece and 65 dollar for an unpainted heatercore but painted black shroud to go with it. Also I would go with the RBX block with nozzle 4 since it's one of the best commerical producing block or you can go with the dtek whitewater it's a little bit not as restrictive as RBX. Go with the aquaextreme 50z (highly recommend for a nice and quiet pump) or go with the new mcp350 pump (or dangerden's DDC12v) Dangerden setup pretty much requires modding the inside so you can fit the radiator but at the sacrafice of a few cdrom bays :)

as far as touching the plastic tubing it feels warm, yes, unless there is a different way?
I didi turn the nob on the CPU cooler as far as I could until it wouldn't turn anymore.....So I doubt it was an installation error.

my corsair hydrocool with koolance fuild and the 200/300block cooled my AMD XP 2600 Mobile at 2.6ghz 1.775v So i think that system is Good for whatever you toss it on..
The koolance should be pretty decent tho.. maybe the system just isnt getting enough flow, the pumps they use are like 150gph i think and even tho the tubeing is small, id just say that maybe theres some kind of issue..
But ive seen people with the ex koolance and have good temps..
Ebay the system if its still in new condition. ive seen them go on ebay for almost retail price. im putting my Hydrocool on there this week hopeing i can make some buck from it even tho its a great unit.

lol, I am finding this out slowly. I think I may just go back to my Zalman.
the A64 simply doesn't pump out enough heat to benefit all that much from cooling above a certain level. It all depends on the platform. If I had a Prescott it would be a different story.
And yes, the case is 2 weeks old and in like new shape. I am considering just throwing it on ebay with the cpu block.......

If i were you, sell the koolance WC kit and build a few parts yourself.
For Ex:
DD TDX A64 CPU BLOCK
DD NV-68 GPU BLOCK for 6800
DD 12V Pump
Dual Heatcore
T-line
Tubes
etc..

Scott your temps are very high. I doubt the temp sensor on the koolance is THAT off. I would suggest remounting the cpu block. its usually the first thing i suggest and it usually works. If that doesnt work, make sure there are no blockages in the system and your flow is good.
if everything is A ok, then i would have to say the sensor is totaly screwed (i know for a fact its off but by how much is up for indefinite debate). Becuase as much as the koolance systems suck, they dont suck that bad. an a64 isnt exactly dumping all that much heat into a system ya know.. a mobile xp as mentioned above dumps WAY more heat.
