I just went and saw Ong Bak Thai Warrior and I got to admit it had to be the best action flick I have seen this year. The story wasn't all to bad (at least there was a story, unlike ahem some big budget flick with Keanu) acting on the other hand was fairly amaturish but the action sequences slaped the biggest bugget hollywood movies like a silly biotch.
I was never a fan of asian movies either, well the Hong Kong and chinese flicks, I also hate North American action flicks that have any fighting in them. I hate wires, I hate the 50' jump, the fighting on tree tops like in Hidden Dragon Crouching crap, or Hero with Jet Lee. Its quite easy to tell when you see a wired action stuff, and I personaly can't friggen stand it. It was also refreshing to see no special effects.
I love the old Bruce lee flicks cause they had good fight scenes, but this movie takes the cake. I almost felt the pain that this little Thai Dood was inflicting on the "bad guys". The fighting sequences were just awsome Tony Jaa(the hero of the show) is way better the bruce lee, Jacky chan, Jet Lee combined together.
For a 7 Dollar movie it was well worth watching and I would love to see it again. I have a feeling I will be seeing this martial arts genious some more.
