Is 3.1v (actual) too much for such ram?

I'm using an XP-90 with the overhang over the ram slots and they are getting a little airflow from it.

I of course have several other case fans, but nothing RIGHT over top the ram.

Would that be dangerous?

i've been doing like 3.15, but i have an 80mm fan on them keeping them cool, without the fan they are hot to the touch.

i run mine at 2.9 with no problems so far, but im tempted to try 2.6 because some are saying that lower voltages are providing more stability.

I ran my OCZ plat. rev2 (TCCD) at 3.1V max, it did a few MHz more at 3.1V than at 3.0V

Remember to raise DRAM Drive Strength level as you raise VDimm, those are related.

For my Gskill giving more than 2.9-3.0V does nothing, actually at 3V without a fan over the RAM i get instant errors in memtest.

I wouldn't recommand to go over 3.1V with this RAM, most often it works best with 2.8-2.9V

Ok, I've only run my RAM at 2,6 and 2,7 = at 2,6 its stable at 305 2,5-4-3-7

I would say the general tendency is that TCCD operates best between 2,6-2,8

And my chips are almost cold on my DFI, while on a Neo they were burning. Makes little to no sense to me :/

I know little of such advanced ram settings, could you provide me with a source to gain more information about drive strength?

It was set to auto, then I set it to 8, benched, set it to 6, benched and saw no increase in performance, then I set it to 4 and the system wouldnt boot into windows.

Havn't tried any other settings.

Thanks for any help!

If you go up in Vdimm, you have to increase the level of drive strength, that's all.

If you go from 2.7V to 2.9V for example and it doesn't seem stable any more, you should try to set drive strength a level higher.

I don't have any source, try google.

Every mobo/CPU/RAM combo is different, so you should experiment what works best with yours.

Gotcha... thanks bro, I appreciate it!
