View Full Version : Can a Gig of BH-5 overclock and handle 1T like VX/UTT can?

I am wondering whether a Gigabyte of good BH-5 can handle CPC ON (1T) at high FSB speeds in dual channel, in the new nForce4 boards, the same way that VX/UTT is commonly able to do.
Will a gig of some good BH-5 overclock well with 1T in an nForce4 platform?
I ask, because my past experience with nForce2 involved a gig of even the best RAM not being able to run CPC ON, when overclocked to any degree.

the gig of VX would oc better for sure

But will a gig of BH-5 handle 1T?
I know that Vx does better on average, I am really only concerned whether my BH-5 will do 1T or not :-/

yes it will do 1T perfectly fine, but dont expect to get high clocks, compared to 2T :(
see if opb can take apart ur modules and stick ur bh5 chips on brain power pcb, supposedly bp pcb helps.

Is that possible?
Wouldn't it cost enough, that I'd be better off just buying some new VX? ;)
Thanks for the info Hamster (I love your avatar BTW) :)
i dont think it will cost that much, just desolder and put the chips into ram machine inplace of tccd chips (maybe with a few adjustments to the spd chip and etc) and boom u got a stick of bh5 on bp pcb.

That sounds so frankenstein
I wanna buy bh5 and try it

most bh5 in my experience 2x512 you should beable to get at least 250fsb with tight 2-2-2 1t without any trouble.

hmm... I dunno mine hated 1T (2*512). Myself and others met with similar fate have thought problems with 1T in a gig pack have contributed to their demise as "the" ram. 2*256 is still great. Just try it but I would keep a open mind rather than expect anything.

I posted in this (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=53218&page=2) thread about my BH6 -2X512 at 2,2,2,5 1T 260 1:1 on DFI NF4 MB. Some A64tweaker shots plus Superpi 16M - it'll do cas 1.5 at this as well - if thats worth anything.
If you seriously want BH-5 on the BrainPower 808 pcb, then try to find some OCZ PC3500 Platinum Limited Edition .
They were available in 1 gb kits as well......mine - now sadly gone - did 240+ in an IC7 with a vddr mod. On the newer DFI's i would expect much more!!

That is worth a lot, thank you for sharing your result man: just the kind of anecdote I need :).

I will say this, it IS in a DFI board, that LOVES BH5/6. If you are still looking for an NF4 board, DFI all the way! Good luck!

hi felinusz :)
I have had a gig of Corsair PC3500 BH5 that did 246 1T on an NF7 nF2 board... and I know of more than a few examples of 2x512 BH5 doing 260+ at 3.5v and 1T.
I think this whole idea came from the old platforms that would not do 1T with ANY 2x512 setup... and people are blaming the RAM rather than the old platform.
What it comes down to is, on A64 2x512 BH5 seems to do jus fine if your CPU has a decent memory controller... good luck dude

Gotta agree there, I have sticks of ram (BH-6) that in the old DFI NF3 would max out at about 250 (single channel of course), in the DFI NF4 theyre topping out at 260 dual channel 1t.

I've got a Gig of those but I didn't know it's BP PCB :slobber:
Here (http://www.forumdeluxx.de/gallery/data/500/9449277.JPG) a quick SS on my DFI 875P-T
