F1-3200DSU2-1GBLA

They are both Samsung TCCD.

One is close to 300$, one is $145 - $165

Is the DSU tested and will perform above a certain mark, whereas the PHU won't perform above a certain mark?

Has anybody experience with the PHU?

What gives? Is the PHU just utter crap or what?

i believe the PHU isnt TCCD. the ramchips (from the pic on newegg) have the gskill logo on them... the TCCD doesnt.

OK....but, here (http://store.yahoo.com/digi4me/gsstc1gb5x2d2.html) the DRAM is listed as TCCD, but, of course they very well might be wrong.

If it is indeed TCCD, perhaps it is sub-par; capable of doing its rated speed, but not much more? I mean if there is hand-picked TCCD that will do such and such speed at such and such timing, then there is obviously some that won't make the grade for the highest speeds. Maybe that is what this is.

BTW, does anyone know what the LA part of the product name stands for?

I wonder if OPB could tell us what is the difference in these two 1 GB "LA" sets...

It'd be nice to see a switchout, a comparison, of 2 512 sticks of each in a system, with the only difference being the RAM.

yeah i believe thats the stuff. Its G. Skills value RAM, several people around here have tested it, and the best it will do it 250 at not-so-great timings. If you can even still find it, the expensive stuff is what you want. :)

i think you should pay attention to the PHU2 and DSU2 instead of the LA. Here in Germany, DSU2 are PC600 while the PHU2 are pc400...they are actually rated different to each other. i don't know if it's the same there and somebody has put the rating wrong or i am the one who's wrong... :D
