I have tried logging onto MSN Messenger using two different versions of AMSN and the web client. AMSN just has errors, and the web client times out when it tries to connect to login.passport.net. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

well with outlook and logging into hotmail it has been INSANELY slow for me. like its painful. Outlook constanly is locking up from the long download times of messages. Thsese problems are only as of the past week or so. Before that it always worked well.

MSN service has blocked all but the most current versions of the client to prevent the spread of virii/worms. i've got a feeling the web-client isn't patched yet. patch MS05-009/KB887472 ?

Microsoft blocked third party clients!?!? F'ing idiots! Now what will me and other Unix nerds do to use MSN now that our good ol AMSN is useless. I hate Microsoft even more now. They've basicly limited their MSN userbase to Windows users. I wonder what they will do next.. they will probably end up blocking everyone but Windows users to their sites, or find a way to make Cedega go out of business by releasing a f'ed up version of Direct X. GRRR.

Umm... why were you using MSN in the _first_ place!? You should be using Jabber or ICQ or Yahoo! or [insert favorite alternative]. Kind of hypocritical for someone so vocally anti-M$. :bs:

i had it as backup because ms blocked gaim and other thrid party clients i used several times already. so for a short time i needed an alternative for gaim then, but am mostly using gaim.

Don't blame MS, blame the jerks who target them and their technologies. MS is just moving to secure their resources.

i don't blame them for locking it down like this. however, i don't expect it to stay this way for very long. once the 3rd party clients get talking with the msn-service folks and they're all able to verify the 3rd party clients are not vulnerable, then they'll allow them in again.

if there's a chance you'll come in & crap on my carpet, i wouldn't let you in either.... not without a diaper. :p:
