Hi!

I will have some used compressors, and some of them maybe be for r12, r22 and r134a.

Can I use them with r404a and r507 only by changing oil to POE?
Can I use POE oil with r12, r134 and r22 too?

I think I've read some post here saying that POE "works" with all gases, it's like that?

I have one compressor for r134a that doesn't have any oil... how much oil is safe to put in it (if there is an universal starting point for all litle compressors...)?

Yes, POE is compatible with R22, I dunno if it works with other

Even so, I'm not sure, but gases which work on polyester oils, can work on mineral oil

Please to correct me if I'm wrong

I thought that R22 was mineral oil only ?

no, R22 works with both, but most ppl recommended sticking to mineral oil.

I would reccoment mineral oil because then you can take your time installing it without having to worry about the oil turning to acid (by absorbing moisture).

And mineral oil is more cheaper than POE oil. And it's silencer, vapor phase
change unit works .. how to say? More smoothly, I should say, with mineral oil

Well, my objective was: if there's some oil compatible with all this gases, then it's better so I don't must to change oil for testing various gases. By other words, put in the system the gas that I want without being concerned about the oil that the compressor has.

In this case, it's not a matter of economy, but a matter of facility instead.

Polyolester is compatiable with all oils but if you change an older compressor to poly from mineral oil make sure to get all the mineral oil out to at least 5%.

Thank you all for the replys.

So, I can use POE for all aplications... great!

Use care whe handeling POE oil it is hygroscopic (it has an affinity for water) and if it were to be contaminated with water it would become unusable. So to perserv teh oil you don't use in the container use an inert gas and it immediatly after use. Do not add the oil until the unit is fully assembled and pull a very good vacume.
