I have been reading so much on all the new stuff for my new actually 1st build. so far i got everything in order but what RAM to get. i was set on the 4200 for a bit and actually had an order in but keep reading on a bit and found the almost everyone is usuing the 3200 and not having any problems. i cant say the same for the 4200.
I alos happened to flip a coin and if tails came up i would cancel the 4200 and order the 3200 up. well tails cam up not once but 7 times in a row. this not the best way to make a decesion but it sometimes works for me :toast:
What do you guys think? o here is what i got so far
2 x 74g raptors
2 x bfg 6800gt's
dfi sli-dr (when the next batch hits)
amd 3500+ winnie
716 plextor dvd burner
lian li pc 75 case
pcp$c 510 sli
sony fdd for raid driver install
koolance exos with cpu 300 block and 2 vid 2 gpu coolers
mem
im leaning towards 3200 rev 2 plats now since everyone is haveing great luck with em.
thanks :toast:  :toast:
EDIT: i added g.skill to the list now and pretty much think the 4200's are out.

to be sure i'd get both and test which works better for you and keep the best and sell or return to retailer the other pair :)

I've got PC3700 Plat (another alternative). Personally, I think that the 3200 Plat Rev 2 is almost the same and much cheaper. It really depends on what you're doing and what you need from your computer. If you absolutely have to have tight timings, maybe the 3200 is best for you and potentially run a divider, if you want high bandwidth and want not quite as tight timings go higher. If I could, I'd rather have the difference in the cost between the 3700 and the 3200 in my pocket right now and have the 3200 in my computer (just my $0.02).

id rather not have to deal with returning and getting hit a 15% stocking fee like most places charge.
O and this will be a gaming system purley im stepping UP from a p3 650 dell :stick: to this monster :toast:

The 3200 rev2 plat overclocks like a beast. Pretty much everything I have read reccomends the 3200, and having them myself I would have to reccomend them as well, because they work great. if high bandwidth/fsb is what you are after, they are definately your ticket.

From what I have heard they both overclock the same and the 3200 is cheaper so it's pretty much a no-brainer.

G. Skill is very hot right now, no question about it. I plan on nabbing a pair of the LE's soon as I get paid. Hoping they will take me past the 265 fsb my Plat rev. 2 are brickwalling at.

Can the koolance handle the heat thats gonna be made by all that stuff? Might not be any better than air after all is said and done and air would be far far cheaper

pretty sure it will from what i have been reading with people with chip set cooler gpu and cpu. i wont have chipset in there so well see. as long as its cooler then air ill be happy. and on the gpu's theres not much room for anything inbetween them slots on the dfi. But the vid 02 gpu coolers i got are just a tad and i mean a tad smaller then the stock fan on the cards. but yes compared to custome systems the koolance falles behind by a few degrees from what i have read. but this is my first build so i want to keep it fairly simple . But still have great gear. also my case has 4 fans already built in and i can put two more at the back top of it as well. + the front 2 can be fan controled thats built into the case.
Also since i could not pick between the ocz's and since the gskill's promis that they can reach what they adverstize i went with them. 1 hour after i ordered new egg sold out of the other 5 :toast:
p.s. i got everything sitting here ex the 510 sli and the mem thats in the mail. just waiting on the board to get instock to pick that up and the 3500+
