hi guys. Just finished off building my rig about 30 mins ago. What happens when i turn it on is everything starts up fine, i get 3 diagnostic leds light up ( number 4,3 and 2) which by looking in the manual im aware thats VGA detected, DRAM detected and CPU detected. But then it just sits there doing nothing. I have brand new hard drives in with no operating system but im trying to get into the bios first but cant because i just have a black screen but none of my keyboard lights are on so cant enter the bios. I originally had both sticks of RAM in slots 2 & 4 but i have also tried with just 1 stick in the slot 4 as im aware reading the posts that u need the newer beta bios flash to make the dual work correctly.
Any ideas on whats happening? my led lights work on the front of my case but the power one is flashing.

ok..got it to boot. Read on another forum to make sure when booting with 1 stick of ram first, have it in slot 2. Done that and booted fine, got into bios. Now i have another problem. My CPU fan is spinning like hell, my 2 front case fans are spinning fine but PSU fans are moving really slow, and i mean really slow along with chipset and 2 other exhaust case fans..they are all spinning damn slow. Also my fan on my X850XT isnt blowing very much at all, cant feel alot of air coming out the exhaust. Im thinking the PSU i got aint powerful enough but surely 480w Tagan should breeze it. What could i be missing.

dont all rush to help me lol
Anyway right then..just had a few more tries...very strange indeed. This time the all fans where spinning 100% even GPU and chipset unlike before. But now it`s not posting again so cant get into bios. I have done nothing different. Man this is going to be hard work.

If you suspect the PSU, try it with the min of things attached.
Loose the hard discs and the power going to the case fans.
I can't see what the mobo has to do with the speed the fans in the PSU spin at unless you are using some sort of PSU monitoring software.
Same with case fans really.

ok will give it a go..just been in the bios and finished a memtest all fine. My query is this, when you enter bios do the fans power down at all, because when i boot up everything spins fine, it`s not until i hit the delete key and go into bios that things seem to slow up

I dunno as I haven't got one of these boards :(
I wonder if this is something to do with the CMOS reloaded stuff.
You need someone esle with one to read this thread, and me replying will keep it at the top :)

Tell us what your Vrails in the bios are reporting. Temps?......also either select "Load Optimize Default" settings until you can figure out what is going on, and/or go to PC Health section in bios and see if the temp ranges need a bit of tweaking according to the way you set your rig up.
I hope you only(at most) just have the CPU Heatsink fan to the CPU fanheader #1 on the mobo and NO OTHER fans connected to the remaining headers on the mobo.

So when first posting and installing windows, you hafta use 1 dimm in single channel? Is that just for double-sidded dimms?

Looks that way for some ram.
He like many these days doesn't have a floppy, so he needs to install windows to flash the BIOS.

:slapass: :shakes: I'd never recommend doing that, but hey.........that's little ole me. :D
And to flash the bios(not you Tony until you are sure it is stable enough) use Winflash v1.51 (http://www.ecsusa.com/downloads/winFlash.html)...I know it comes from ECS but it works on various boards including this one.
