amd should have chosen to go with ddr2 after all, previous ddr2 had ras-cas4 which sucked but not this one! The best tccd does ddr600 at ras-cas3, isnt this ddr2 far better?

its way too expensive, and the yield of chips that do 3-2-2 is very low afaik, nothing for mass production.
fugger did a test and showed that ddr2 400 3-2-2 is faster than bh5 at ddr400 2-2-2 in some situations on 925xe...
look at the performence of amd chips, they really dont need ddr2, they can even beat intels chips with 266fsb and ddr2 667 with ddr1 memory... :D
so no, they shouldnt have chose to go ddr2 earlier as it was really expensive, had bad availability and 3-2-2 chips are very scarce and even more expensive.

how much are we talking for 2x512mb of that pc5400 ram with ras-cas2 latency? the cheapest tccd is low to mid 200 and the best gskill tccd is like 300

wy dont you tell me? :D

More performance is always a plus.
of course it matters, if it was only about performence and not about availability and cost then all cpus would be dual core already with a whooping 12mb L2 cache and 24mb L3 cache... :P
if intels chips would perform better then amd would have 1mb L2 cache on all of its mainstream cpus, but it doesnt because 512kb L2 cache is enough to beat intels cpus lineup and costs them much less to build...

love to see that... anything OTHER THAN synthetic bandwidth benchmarks like Sisoft Sandra?

hmmm i think he posted about it in the intel section... ask fugger...

1. who said amd wasnt going to adopt ddr2?
2. the infos seem to be correct, that roadmap looks fake to me though :)
if amd is smart they go for n fb dimm controller and not an ddr2 controller :D

wot's an fb dimm and why is it better than DDR2?
