Hi,
I have been hearing an odd low pitched noise when I turn my computer on, it dies away by the time the machine has got into windows but I still don't like it!
I think it may be the NB fan on the Motherboard as this is about the area the noise is coming from... I have heard that ABIT shipped out a load of faulty fans to people but I'm not sure if mine is in that bunch...
Does anyone know a good replacement for this cooler (it can't be any bigger though as my Arctic Cooling Freezer 4 is massive).
Cheers

Ive got the replaceble cooler. It will not make so much noise. I would go for alternative zalman NBFAN. Just pase it on youre mobo.

Do you think I could stick a load of copper ram sinks to it? would that work? also what temperature can the northbridge go to safely?

With gleu? you cant gleu the whole core ofcourse :P only on the edges a little in this way you can stick the zalman NBFAN on youre mobo. I wouldn't go for youre solution. The NBFAN from zalman is very cheap an quite! The replacement cooler from Abit looks nice but its a little higher an thinner. Just mail Abit that youre cooler broke from youre NBFAN you should have the recplacement cooler in a week or 2.

If you have a small 50mm or so fan, you can take the stock fan out of the heatsink and then screw it into the heatsinks fins. Thats what I did after my ic7's fan failed. Do you have the original ic7 northbridge heatsink, or the max3 one that they started shipping on boards after a couple months?

erm its round and shiny... quite large (dont know if this helps)
I was looking at a zalman NB heatsink (the gold one) will this cool sufficiently or not?

Just mail abit and they'll send you a new one. You have to tell them your S/N. It works good.. got mine after just a couple of days.
