as title says my question is about my P4 3,0c
iam running at 1,6v (bios) @ 3,7ghz cpuz read is between 1,56-1,58v
i cant get more mhz out of it with this vcore.
Ok problem is next step for vcore is 1,7v and it will not boot when i set in bios
but i can set 1,7v in windows cpuz read is between 1,66-1,68v

Iam all aircooled and iam really not sure if this will be still a "safe" setting
maybe some of you could share your long term experience as this is not for a benching machine its for 24/7 rig

EDIT: cooled by XP-120 average 120mm 2600rpm fan

I give P4Cs 1.75V on good air/water. On PC I go up to 1.9V

1,7 Vcore is the maximum for northwood on boxed cooler. Over 1.7V it has a change that i could die from one day to another. I would not suggest going over 1.7 if havn't got watercooling e.d.

My P4 3.0C, 30 Caps, does at least 250 Fsb at stock Vcore with boxed cooler, and @ phase change 280 Fsb @ 1.6v (1.65v in bios).

I don't think my cpu like high voltages, because I already did a SuperPi 1Mb @ 290 Fsb(1.6v), when I try to raise the v-core it doesn't gain nothing. :(

Waiting on Dothan and a good board to change my setup! :D

Best wishes

thanks for replies,

i think its probably not worth the extra risc to run em at that high voltage for 24/7 use - did some testing yesterday.

1,6v / cpuz=1,56-158 / @ 3,7ghz superpi etc stable
1,7v / cpuz= 1,66-168/ @ 3,85ghz - superpi etc. stable

So I think its just 150mhz more but 0,1v more too much risc for 24/7 use.
But thanks for help anyway
