Hey guys - i have this cheap pci-x card coming to me to go with my new DFI - once they get in stock somewhere..lol...either way, heres my question...This is a plain GeForce 6200. I saw some reviews with some crazy overclocks on both core and memory speeds, which leaves me with a little hope. However, i also saw on hardwareluxx that they enabled the second 4 pipelines on the card to have, in effect, a 6600 instead of 6200. They did this through rivatuner. Now i'm wondering if there is a way to do it through a bios. Could i take the Gigabyte bios for their basic 6600 and flash it to my 6200? They have the same features, same video outs, etc., just the 8x1 pipeline configuration over the 4x1 config. that the 6200 has. So would that be possible? Thanks for the help.

Hopefully I'm not scaring anyone by bringing this topic back, but... I'm curious if you ever figured this out. I'm getting a eVGA 6200, I'm going to do the softmod, if that works, maybe we can go from there and figure this out!

hey - i did actually figure this out..and i came to realize that it is quite the overclocker too! As you can see in my sig...i have the 8 pipes open through RivaTuner and then also got incredible overclocks through coolbits of 580/675. Good luck!

Also - check the RAM when you get the card...if it is 3.6ns you'll pull off even higher overclocks on the memory! (mine is 4ns)

Mine comes in tomorrow, but according to the eVGA website it's 3.6ns. I checked the Gigabyte website and unfortunately it says that your model is supposed to have 4 ns ram.

So you already did figure out how to flash the bios? I'm going to unlock pipes first, if that works maybe flashing is the next option! I intentionally tried to get a board that was as similar as possible to the 6600!

unfortunately i was unable to flash the bios..i tried with nvflash as well as gigabytes 6600 prebuilt flasher...no luck with either..looks like i will have to wait for gigabyte to release a new bios for the 6200 (there are none at this time) before i'll be able to flash it properly...the evga may be different...let me know! Also, having 3.6ns ram is a very good thing!! You're going to get some sick memory clocks out of that. Good luck!

What happened when you tried to flash the bios? I'll advise you on my overclocking tomorrow. How much more could you o/c the ram with the ramsinks? It seems that unless you do a vmod the ramsinks may not help much. If the seem to help a lot, I might get some later on! Thanks! I haven't had the best o/cing experiences lately, I'll be really happy if this works correctly! BTW- how did you test that your unlocked pipes worked and weren't artifacting/not producing any tangible improvements?
