Figured it was time to start learning how to properly overclock this frigen things allwas overclocked the XP and XP-M chips till now.

heres my specs atm, kinda looking for some links to maybe some guides or just tips from people with similar systems ?

FX-53 (DD TDX)
Asus A8N-SLi Deluxe
512x2 Corsair TCCD
Sapphire X800 XT PCI-E (PolarFlo)
Maxtor 120Gig Sata
X-connect 500 watt

I found by searching the A64tweakers ? but still dont know where i should start with this beast.
 I feel like a Noob :D

There is an A64 guide in the AMD stickies section.

first of all welcome to XS! :toast: :welcome:

personally, the way i do i is take one piece of hardware at a time, as if u try to clock your cpu, mem, graphics all in one go it just causes problems, so i'd test for max CPU speed first, the way i do this is i dont touch the multiplier until i max out the fsb or htt, then its time to drop the multi and raise fsb and see if that gives a better final clock, then i start raising the voltage slightly as this usually aids overclocking, personally i put 1.65v max thru my cpu 24/7 but i notice u have water so feel free to take it to 1.7 - 1.75v

then the graphics etc....the golden rule imo is take it steady, dont try to get max everything in one day and dont be afraid to test out settings that may not work, example tight ram timings, the worse that can happen is to have to bios reset

just my thoughts, if you dont understand any of this just ask and me or some fellow XS member be more than happy to help

nice choice :welcome:

the only difference is going to be the ram timeings... they are very important. tighter the better! 1:1 with cpc enabled is also a plus.

Sure, that's a good estimate. Maybe even higher with luck...

My friend had one that would max out @ 2.6 GHz with 1.7V. Crappiest chip ever :(

nice, maybe getting a (brand new) second hand FX53 instead of a new 3500winnie

Would the FX-53 still be a good choice cpu to get? Would it be better than a winnie at 2.6ghz?

Thanks for the tips, Do you know of a newer bios for the A8N that allows higher volts on the cpu ? I cant say ive looked yet but maybe when i get a chance i will.

time to go try to see what the CPU will hit.....

If youve got the cash, sure. It has more l2 cachce, and can potentialy clock higher.
