View Full Version : Memory Cooling?

The only thin Ive seen so far are heat spreaders, mini heat sinks, and clamping water cooling kits. I can understand why there isn't much in the way of memory cooling. There's nothing to mount anything on..... OCZ should make their chips taller with some holes.... or something, anything that would allow the OC community to come up with some inventions....
Is there anything at all out that works really well? I want to keep my OCed ram nice and cool, without resorting to water cooling or something sloppy looking. I know a lot of people will just strap a fan over them but I don't like the way it looks. Anything available at the moment on the market, or something I can make my self?

Don't bother with how it looks, you see your system maybe 5 seconds a day and that is only if you turn it off every day.

On most motherboards the memory sockets are located in the top corner surrounded by 4 of the mounting holes. On these boards I screw in a brass stand off in place of the mounting screw to mount a fan assy.

I agree, very nice and orignial idea, we should have something mass marketed similar to your idea. Of course silent, but any and all airflow over RAM is better than none!
EDIT: I think your idea is so good you should PM bigtoe or anyocz and have OCZ work something out!

I've got a supertalent RAM cooler available from xoxide. The original fans are terrible (low flow + seizure inducing lights), but are easily swapped out. Kindof expensive but does a nice job.

You can also fit two 80mm fans perfectly over the ram slots with those 4 mobo mount holes. Just use 2 holes for each fan.

with all the threads about water cooling ram i thought it was good enough just to get some sinks and a couple fans blowing on them...
