Sys specs:
Asus A8V Deluxe Rev 2.00.
AMD Athlon64 Winchester 3000+.
Samsung PC2700 2x512mb running CAS 2.5.
I'm having problems with my CPU because it wont reach any more than 2700mhz because of the max FSB is 300mhz and the max multiplyer is 9.
Can these values be increased by doing some kind of mod or anything else?
Thanks.

no, I don't believe so. 300mhz on FSB on a Winchester is pretty good actually.

I haven't reached the 300mhz yet, but i would like to go higher that the 2700mhz, when I get the complete WC.

You probably won't OC any higher than that, assuming you could, if the board has a max HTT of 300, overclock with clockgen, www.cpuid.com
Using two sticks of 512mB DDR you won't get much higher than that....

yeah, agreed. 300mhz on the HT is pretty good if you can get there. 2.7ghz is still pretty nice if you can get there

Okay, but what should I get? I've been thinking on getting some Corsair TwinX XMS PC3200XL-PRO 2x512mb. Would they be good?
Good job! Did you get 300HTT on A8V? I haven't seen that much before (max. around ~275HTT).

No, but I'll try today, I have NO problems with 245FSB on 1.375 VCore, so if I can reach about 280 on my WC I'm happy, but I just wanted to try something more than 2700MHZ when I get the complete WC.

At 265fsb with 1.450 Vcore, the PC is making problems in Super PI, it just halts and make an error. What should I do?
Do you use a divider for your mems or what? Tell us something!!! :)
Increase vcore but watch out temps.

Hehe, don't even know how to set any of those things up.
In the bios ... :s :s :s ?

I can see this all ending in tears. :/

If you dont know how to set the dividers etc. -thats you problem! You'r probably running 1:1 on your RAM, and its not sure that they can handle it. So you need to go to the BIOS, and use a divider.
Try that :)

At 9x260 with 1.550 Vcore its running stable, although I haven't found out how to set up the divider. Anyone who can guide me?
According to CPU-Z, the ram is running 216 mhz.

MATE, just hold up. You have ram that is garunteed to go to 166fsb. You are making it go at 260+, and you want 300. THAT IS DUMB. Get some TCCD on Brainpower PCB, such as -Geil Ultra-X, OCZ platinum rev. 2, Gskill LE, etc. And 2700 is overly optimistic for a winchester 3000. What does the core say (week/4letter code)?
Butcher - i see the same thing

Lol :D
Then its obvious that you cant make it any higher :)

216 MHz out of an 166MHz stick is nothing to be ashemed with :D ... I don't think you can go higher. If you really want 1:1 buy some TCCD (G.Skill PC4400 2.5-3-3-7 LE will do just fine).

or you could just go for a mem divider of like 133/100, get that ram running at spec. And guys the a64 will auto setup a divider for the pc2700, hence hes running it at 216. id say the 100 divider will be best for something around 300htt.

First of all you should get some more information about ocing CPUs!! ;)

Hehe, this is my first OC ever, so if there is any good guides to set everything up, then post 'em ;-). We all gotta start somewhere :-).
The Mem divider - how is this setup? I can't seem to find anything about it in the manual.
Sorry for my "noobness" but I'm just trying to learn how to make good OC's ;-).

Why dont you just ask about these thing on tweak.dk? Wouldnt that be a lot easier? - I'm sure that they can give you the same answer, and i know that theres a couple who has got the Asus A8V Deluxe too (including me) ;) And then its Danish :toast:

Yeah I know my danish brother :-P. I am gonna post there but I just wanted to hear something from the Mates here.

running a divider on ram kills performance and also limits your max oc. How did you hit 300fsb before? 133 divider? You could get TCCD but youll still need to use a divider but the 166 divider takes alot less a hit than the 133 one. How stable is 2.7GHz that is one heck of a good overclock, mine does up to 2.6 but isnt close to stable till I back down to like 2.4 but my ondie controller cant handle 266x9 1:1 so I gotta back down to like 250x9. I could get another winchester but seeing that Venice is comming soon, ill wait for that instead. 2.7GHz is not a problem at all but amazing :D

Tests show running RAM async on A64s doesn't harm performance at all - in fact you can sometimes get better performance by running the ram a bit slower but with tighter timings.

at same timings, running async costs me about 150MHz of cpu worth. Youd need really tight timings for async to be better than 1:1 at bad timings like 3-4-4-x

Like I said, I haven't reached 2.7ghz yet, But like I asked before. Where can I find some good OC guides? Would like to learn a bit more about it.
And how is the mem divider setup?

the search function, or google.
there are numerous clocking guides all over the net.
several BBS's already have stickies for proper clockage, DFI forums, OC forums, Extreme Systems forums. lots of settings and other stuffs to keep you busy for a day or so of tweaking.
as far as the mem divider goes, peruse your manual while cruising through your boards' bios, it will be a rewarding experience.
good luck.

Okay, so I have set the divider to DDR266 (Don't remeber if it 3:2) so I have reached 275x9 2475mhz stable at 1.575 vcore. Is this a good overclock? When I try to overclock to 280mhz, it makes errors in SuperPI. The timings are 3-3-6-11 I think it is.
When you are running at 280fsb, is it at 1.575vcore ? Try increase it

Well a little update although its an old thread.
I have gotten my Crucial Ballistix PC3200 2x256MB.
So I set the divider to DDR266, and the timings to 2-2-2-5.
And a little screenie will tell you.
