i think the initial impressions of the k8n neo4 ultra have made people decide to wait for the DFI.

i think a lot of people got bummed out about the 1.69 or 1.66 max of the vcore with a winchester.

also i'm not all that sure whats stopping my HTT from being high.

i know on my DFI 754 system, with a single stick of 512 i would crash trying to screenshot at 315mhz. this system i will crash trying to screenshot at 2x512 310mhz. both 1T by the way. this rig becomes stable at around 270HTT with 1GB of ram. My other skt 754 rig was stable at 245. so how would i know whats holding me back? the ram, the board, or the mem controller? Could i eliminate the ram if i can get stable with 1stick of ram past 270? i think that would, but then how could i tell between the mem controller and the board, without having another board to test?

also that 1.21Beta bios won't boot with timings tweaked a little in the bios. only the big 4 can really be adjusted, the rest need to be set to auto. I'll see if the problem is the same with the 1.11 official bios.

When you say the Winchester is limited to a 1.66v vcore, does this mean that the FX chips aren't? The neo2 had vcore troubles with the Winchesters also, right...meaning they couldn't run 1.9v like the FX chips could?

its +20% of stock VID. changing VID changes the +% that you can use. I haven't tested a fx on this cuz i don't own one. But i would guess it would take the stock VID and +20% of it.

sadly +20% is only like 1.69V on a winnie. But my monitor is reading 1.66.

The vcore mod for the Neo4 Ultra and SLI are quite easy, so you may wanna look into that. They are different, but easy none the less.

well i never had plans of keeping this board actually, i was going to give it away to someone, and am merely passing time by with it. i'll probably give it away when revision E comes out. i'm not sure if i will put this on the waterchiller i'm building.

Sounds like your memory controller is probably the limiting factor! I have 3 3200+'s that don't like anything over 281 fsb! Tried 3 different sets of G.Skill LE (1gb kits) and 2 different Neo2's with the same result! My 1st Neo2 was a 0441 Taiwian chip and this one is a 0445 Korea chip. It seems that only the 3000+'s and FX55's like high HTT numbers! Will have a new 3000+ here tomorrow. However, since the Egg got the SLi's instock, I decided to sale my new K8N Ultra that I just got today and have already ordered the SLi. Won't be utilizing the 2nd PCI-E slot right now, but down the road I may...

now why would a 3000+ have a better mem controller? it seems like that actually might be the case, i have seen some pretty high HTT's.

well my 2 options are to get a fx 55 now, which will most likely alleviate the high HTT problem, or wait for revision E. I'm guessing it will start low and work its way up, considering the highest rated chip that is 90nm is 3500+. So i'll probably buy the 3500+ rev E and hope i can see some high HTT.
