50% in performance by using Nvidia Refresh Rate Override....

When I have refresh rate override on (to get 100 HZ), my FPS in 3dmarks 2001 go from about ~460fps on dragolith to ~210fps. That's HALF the performance... WTF is going on ?

And if I disable the refresh rate override in the Nvidia menu, it goes back to 460fps. I figured out that if I go in the task manager and put the priority to high when i run the benchmark, it goes back to like 460 fps.

But this just means that when i play my games regularly (without going into task manager to put it on high) i must be getting half the performance!

How can I fix this? Is it a bug? Any explanations?

I think that program works in the same way as Vsinc... it matches your FPS to your refresh rate. By dropping the FPS.

In a game you wont get any performance hit as long as your system can produce 100fps (or more) all the time.

If FPS drops below 100 then to keep the sync the override will drop it to a ratio of 100, which might make slowdowns worse than before.

But with the locked refresh you will get a more stable image with it turned on as you wont get "tearing" of the image.

The only thing that should affect your framerate like that is Vsync, which matches the framerate to the monitor refresh rate to prevent it from drawing too fast and "tearing".

I have used the Refresh Rate Override (like RefreshForce or similar 3rd party programs) without problem before. Its simply built into the driver...

Can you get FRAPS going to monitor your framerates in-game to confirm this?
