I want to retire my P4C800-ED / P4 2.4C@3.3 and try a new P4 5xxJ (E0) using DDR400 (TCCD) and my X800XT PE agp...
(because i can't find an E0 cpu on socket 478 and i've seen lots of ppl getting 4.1 or 4.2 Ghz on air with those ones)

Should I get a fancy DFI Lanparty or an Asus P5P800?
(DFI costs me 170€ and Asus only 80€...)

I only care about performance, stability and max overclocking.
I want 4 Ghz on air...

Any recomendation?
What about the cpu model and/or stepping?

Thanks a lot!

If you're into heavy overclocking, go with the DFI. You'll find it is head and shoulders above the competition. But this does not mean that the P5P800 is a bad board; rather, the DFI remains the overclocker's choice.

Keep the €90 in your pocket and go for the ASUS.
Powercircuit is the same as the one of the P5AD2 (but they removed the passive cooling sollution) and ASUS has already proven that they master the i865 chipset on their P4P800... So I don't believe giving twice as much as money will give you a lot more...

Selection of the cpu will be more difficult.
I don't know if the shop where you are buying your stuff allows you to ask for a specific SL-spec... But if they do:
i550: SL834 (comes with EM64T) or SL833
i560: SL836 (idem) or SL846

Asking for a J or non-J doesn't guarantee you too much...
