Hi all, :D this most be one of the most strange topics, but, well, i need to know what's the maximun temperature for the Celeron 900 MHz (socket 370)

Does that CPU have the throtle down feature?

I'll try to overclock one of these, any problem? blocked??

Thanks all! :toast:

They don't have any throttling, but they will turn themselves off once the temp exceeds something. (Acctually, it looks like the computer crashed, but the CPU will stop producing heat at the same time) The temp is well over 100C though.

They produce virtually no heat, I have seen one guys computer with a 933MHz coppermine PIII (Same thing as the celly, just double the cache) with no heatsink installed on it at all and it ran stable. It had 70C loaded temps. I installed a little passive HS on it for him and the temps dropped to like 40C loaded. I then put a little fan on it and the temps dropped even lower to like 25C. (Essentially room temp)

Its true. I have a 1.1ghz celeron here that just has a small heatsink on it. I can take the fan off for 30+ minutes before it even begins to get remotely hot (50c)

Just cool it with your thumb, or better yet, go cut off someones finger and use that :toast:

Ok thanks guys :toast:

Well, my temps are 46ºC on full (prime 95 for 20 min)

maybe is very low temp in usa for the ambience temp, here i got 35 to 42 ºC in ambience temp (case).

Lets see what i can do with that little sh&ttyron :D

ohhh, i forget it, do you know if i can overclock a 1 GHz PIII in a Intel 815 mobo??

sorry for my english, im not very good on that

Thanks!! :)

Coppermines do not overclock well at all, Intel was barly able to get them running at 1GHz. You could buy a 1GHz one as I did and it wouldn't do that speed, then you RMA it and that one also doesn't hit 1GHz, than your 3rd one does, but it only overclocks to 1030MHz as a limit. My experiance apparantly was not uncommon based on articles I read back then.

The main reason Intel came out with the 1GHz coppermine was to fight with this previously low end and insignifigant company AMD who released a new socket (A) along with a chip (The Tbird) that could run 1GHz.

i have the 815 chipset, but it's on a compaq...your 1ghz should be over clockable to atleast 1.3 and my cpu runs 37-46 those are it's min, and max load...but it's not in a tower it's in a desktop style..so no room for air flow. depending if you have your v.core just right it should be all good.

also just so you know in my experiance the 815 has more memory badnwidth than the 820....but tha's according to sandra

and it does not run 100c...no intel is spec'd to run past 85c. also another thing with sandra...it tells me that my 866 and 1000 mhz processors had throttling 37-100% ....my $.02

but the intel mobos don't let us overclock :(

not the older mobos...

what can i do?? some kind of mutant bios? xDDD

i say lower the mult and up the fsb...and i hope you have the right ram to support the fsb.. cuz i don't think those boards had mem deviders..but i could be wrong

You can't change coppermine or tuly multis.

Go look up old coppermine articles, they really can't do much more than 1.1GHz. You must have a tuly if you can do 1.3GHz on air. Isn't it time to upgrade that rig a little?

my rig is as up to date as i can afford

hi guys

well, that's mine, cuppermine isn't?

but i've a problem, my sh&tt& board is a pcsh&t 757LMR xDDD

and i don't know if a can't give the FSB to 133 MHz for the mobo or de CPU, the mobo just allows 66, 100 and 133 FSB ¬_¬

looks like i can't make anything for that piece ____, hmm just put the CAS in 2, FSB133= CAS 3, maybe it takes CAS 2 in FSB100, but i don't think a can win something good with that...

well, thanks anyway =/ i need one of those mobo's, Asus CUSL, something like that :stick:

i have a asus TUV4X and a P3 866, does 1ghz no problem, i also run it passive with a big heatsink with no problems, the motherboard has alot of overlcoking features and i'd recommend it, i've also had a matched pair of 1ghz P3's run in a server with absolutely no probs at all, guess its just the luck of the draw

if it is possible, put ur fsb to 133 but remember you need pc-133 ram...go to newegg.com and click on the 168 pin dimm ram and make sure it's pc 133

Not really, you just need ram that can do 133MHz, I have pc 100 sticks that will do 163MHz. (Maybe more, it was a setup of 3x 256MB sticks and could have been memory controller or chipset limited)

wow 163 i give you cred for that...if it will do it then go for it! lol

I gave them 3.6V which seemed to help alot. I was cranking up the 3.3 rail which increased the memory voltage because back in the SDR days memory always ran on 3.3V stock. My mobo fed the 3.3 rail directly to the ram, but there are other things that run off the 3.3 rail and giving one of those a voltage boost might have been what allowed the high clocks.
