This is pretty weird, i originally had the xp-120 with a 120mm sunon, about 105CFM and 42DB i believe. But i ordered a 92mm 55CFM 35ish dB sanyo fan and got it in today, and my prime temps are actually lower with the Sanyo!? this is great too because the sunon was a little loud for me, but this sanyo is pretty darn quiet for such good cfm.

I still have to buy a fan clip for this thing, its sliding off center with the grooves on the xp-120.

my small fft prime torture test before was 53C with the specs i have in sig, and now its 50C.

its either that or maybe the AS5 i was using just settled down a bit, i only installed the board about 2 weeks ago. and hadn't looked at temps since 2 days ago. But i don't think it would be that.

It may have seated a little better when you were changing fans over, OR, the 120mm fan had such a large dead spot that even with lower CFM the smaller fan can cool better.

oh maybe the deadspot, because right now i have everything sitting in a little self made shelf on my desk, so i dind't even move the heatsink in order to exchange the fan.

just using my eyes i would say that the column sleeve of the 120mm fan is about 1 1/2" wide so i'm guessing that would be a pretty big deadspot. The sanyo has a much smaller sleeve in width.
