Hey Guys,
just wondering if any of you gurus have any tweaks for getting higher benchmark results in 3dmark 2001SE on the windows XP OS?

My current score is around 21,500 but I would like to get higher.

Thanks in advance :)
Alec

One tweak is to switch to W2K and use the Ricky tweak... the Ricky tweak will work in XP too but it was better for me in w2k... switching to w2k alone gave me an extra 6-800 points. Otherwise you can just turn off all the fancy crap in XP using a guid like this:

Thanks for that, gocchin :toast:
I have followed the tutoral on their website and my pc runs much nicer now! :D
I am currently playing round with core voltages to see what the lowest one I can have so can therefore run my pc at 2.62GHz more frequently and perhaps even benchmark is in 3d mark 2001 at 2.62GHz? :stick:

Shall have a fiddle.
Thanks again for all the help,
Alec

maybe this has been said like a thousand times ... but does the Ricky tweak affect performance other that 3dmark ?

Go into Device Manager and switch over from ACPI Uniprocessor PC to ACPI Multiprocessor PC.

I don't think it'll work on a K7 processor... I tried it once and was never able to boot the OS (XP Pro) again in safe or normal mode. Works great with A64's though.

Any other amazing tweaks, other than turning off services, disabling devices you dont use, uninstalling windows conponents and defragging.

run msconfig, select diagnostic startup and reboot. This will painlessly disable all services you won't want running while benching. Run it again and select normal startup whenever you are done.
