K8N Neo2 & FX55 Freezing on bios intro

Hi,

I have just built a system with the following specs;

FX-55 week 44
MSI K8N Neo2 s/n 0411902223 bios 1.3
2 x 512 Gb of Twinmos winbound UTT
Mach 2
BFG 6800 Ultra OC
2 X WD 36 Gb Raptors (Sata 3 & 4)
PC Power & cooling 510 Deluxe Volt modded;
3.3v @ 3.6v
12v @ 12.6v
5v @ 5.49

My problem is that the system will often freeze upon rebooting on the bios intro page. After ten minutes it will then progress with booting. I have tried flashing to the latest bios but the machine just hangs at the point where it asks for the file name, I cannot type anything or do anything except reboot. I can always get into the bios when starting the machine from cold. Could this be something to do with the minus temps? But many others are running exactly this config?

is your agp-frequenty locked by setting it to 67mhz?
If not, set it to 67mhz instead of 66mhz.

have you run this sytem on air? try setting it up on its box with the org box cooler and see if it does the same thing? i thought only the winne cores had these issues? i wounder if its more of a 90nm problem then it is a winne problem?? deff wierd man hope you get it sorrted out. like i said try the system on air and see if you cant get it going then maybe you can slip it back into the phasechange after its running stable...

Well I managed to flash the bios to 1.41 (was a dodgy floppy I was using before). All seems to be OK for now, just installing windows.

i thought only the winne cores had these issues?

LMFAO!! The FX55 has manymany issues with low temp's. :( Not as many as the winnies, but the issues are there.

LMAO i own one and i have no issues! BUT i have read page after page of threads with people having issues with winnies and phasechange. i have read maybe two threads on this site and a few others with the FX-55 having problems :shrug: so i honestly dont see why you think what i said was so funny?

back on topic:

dude just try running the system on air and see if it still does this? even though it probly is a temp issue like other people are having. so i gues putting it on air would just be a waste of time. these new nf4 boards im praying dont have these issues with phasechange and winchester/FX core....

*edit* i see you changed to 1.41 bios? have you done anything else but load windows with it yet? thats the bios i run and i have had nothing to complain about so maybe youl be ok with that...

Hi,

Just installing drivers and essential programs at the moment, I have had to reboot loads of times so far and no probs. Bios 1.41 seems to have done the job. I know I should have built the system on air first but I'm such an impatient person I didn't listen to my better self.
