hello Xstremists :)
within 3 weeks my new equipment will arrive.
DFI nf4 sli-DR and winny 3200+
have doubts what aircooling solution i shall pick.
it must look good, and be effektive...my hope is to go 3ghz on cpu...
choice 1: Zalman cnps7000B LED ...nice effektive,silent....
Choice 2: Hyper 6 ...but i need som info on the possibility to put a 80>120mm fanduct and 2*120mm MIST blueLED fans on it.....that would look really cool....
if choice 2 is possible i will take that....but if it isnt i will have to settle for 2*80mm on it...but which one will be most effektive???

Hyper6
helt klart
its better to use 2 x 80 mm than 2 x fanducters, they are really bad, you get a inefficient airflow when using a fanducter

^^ Plus its louder. See this: http://www.svethardware.cz/photo_doc-A5371B7C7448B71AC1256F5A005DD208.html

Go with the Hyper 6. I had one before I went to water cooling and it was THE BEST air cooling solution for me. I tried the Zalman 7000cu and the Thermaltake XP-120 and the Hyper 6 blew the Zalman away and cooled better than the XP-120 by about 3-5 degree's C.
DON'T go with any type of fan adapter. I made my own for a 120mm fan and it was louder and the fan was so strong, you could actually feel the air being pushed backwards cause of the resistance.
Here are some pics, I used some duct's to get air from outside the case.

i mounted it on my cousins board and it works really nice.
the mounting su*** a bit but its a really nice coolingsolution.

What fans should you use? Is it true that a duct to a 120 is worse than a 80 on it';s own?

you would be better off making off-center 92mm duct and even that will be a pain to get at the clip under. Also use the larger fan in draw mode to get max flow and help cancel out the dead spot effect.

hmmm actually i have reconsidered....i am choosing the thermalright xp120 and a MIST 120mm blueled .......that should be effektive and look good.

I have both the Hyper6 and Zalman 7000, and by far my hyper6 is much better, i got 33c idle with the hyper 6, with the 7000 i got 44c.

sounds like you have some other problem with your zalman. when idle i get whatever the room temp is, witch is usually 32c. under load it goes up to 40c.

I was also considering the Zalman 7000. The Hyper 6 looks dangerously big if you ask me.

Hyper6 > *
Keeps my P4 @ 3.6 @ 42C max under heavy load (and quietly too - with 2x TT Smart Fan II's).
Sweet cooler.

Definately Hyper 6. The Hyper 6 > most other hs.

I'm trying to replace my Zalman 7000AlCu with the P4 version of this:
http://arctic-cooling.com/cpu2.php?idx=10&disc=
It's supposed to be of similar performance to an XP90 with a 70CFM fan or so, but with a 33CFM fan and quieter than the Zalman that doesn't perform as good as either.
I've found the Zalman sucks for other components in the system. If I don't have any other fan blowing on my HD or don't have any ventilation for it (currently have the bay cover in front of it off) the HD was getting into the high 40C temperature zone because the Zalman was blowing air everywhere including the top front which had no other ventillation.
It's a lot lighter than the Hyper 6 too.
If you want something quiet, it might be worth some research.
