:(
i went on to install my D-ICE tube on my 9600pro. fefore filling the tube up i wanted to boot into windows and see if it works. their were some artifacts on the screen so i shut down. i thought the tube was shorting something out so i put the stock cooler back on. same problem. i took it on and off 3 times to see if there was some copper powder shorting anything out but it seems fine. heres a pic of the problem.

now, could ESD have caused this or is their something shorting something out? :(

DOA you must ahve fried something or cracked the PCB maybe from too tight a mounting :(

looks as if an internal trace somewhere broke or if it was vmod you fried the ddr. :(

at least is was a cheapo 9600 not a xt pe x800 :)

yea but this baby was a gem. did 700mhz on core with just air. i wouldave smashed many records with dice on it :(
i cant see any visible damage so i guess its ESD, specially because of the dry winter air.
does anyone have a busted 9600pro/XT with a working core? i will attempt a core swap. please PM me.

Try reinstalling the drivers.. I had something similar on my x800pro vivo after flashing it.

but all i did was take the card out.... ok i'll try that later. would i have to uninstall the old drivers first?

I had the same problem with my 9600XT after reseating it (put an Artic cooler on it). For some reason the drivers needed reinstalling, god knows why. The 9600XT's seem to have had a good few driver problems in their lives :(

the thing is ive taken the card out like 5x already before i did this one last time. so all you did was reinstall the CATs?

Yeah, god knows why that fixed it.

ok, whenever the ATI drivers are cleaned out, windows seems to run in software mode.. as in it lets the CPU do all the work or something? everything is choppy. whenever i finish re-installing the drivers things are all :banana::banana::banana:ed up again. does this mean the GPU of the card is toast or its working fine?

my 9800XT does this when in "overdrive" but it oc's fine without it.
you should check your voltages...
