KHX3200AK2/1GR Kingston HyperX pc3200 ram, dual channel kit 2x512mb

MSI Neo2 board with 1.4 bios

0441RPBW 3500+ winchester -- running stock atm

Of course when first building new system I stuck both modules into dimms 1&2 for dual channel. Didn't work, dlink LED says bad memory or user installed error. I pull out the second stick and it then posts fine with 1 stick in dimm1. Install windows, etc and come back to the dual channel problem. Tried runnings sticks in: dimm1&2, dimm3&4, dimm1&3 none worked, all had same error as before and no post.

So I make note of which stick is which, we will say stick A is the one system booted fine with to begin with in dimm1....I tried taking it out and putting stick B in the same exact dimm1, and I got memory error. Tried running stick B in dimm3 and memory error.

I pump up voltage to 2.6 (what the memory says it runs at), still no post. Bump to 2.7, still no post. Ram settings were all on auto, 2T to begin with so I try the listed spec from kingston (2-3-2-6) no post. I can get stick A to run fine at [auto] everything & 1T, or 2.5-3-3-8 (which I got from everest). But stick B continually fails to post.

Ok....I figure DOA stick, so I try one last test by putting stick B in a Dell we have and it boots up just fine (333mhz limited by chipset). Running memtest on it right now. I tried running memtest86+ on the winchester machine but it doesnt work, lack or cpu support?

Cliff notes: 1 stick works fine with system, 2nd stick wont post even in same dimm the 1st would post in. But 2nd stick is running fine by itself in a Dell now so not DOA! What to do?

No one has any ideas? Where are all the gurus?

I tried running stick B (which passed memtest86+ 15 times in dell) in dimm1 by itself, then dimm3 by itself today....no post.

Stick A still posts fine :(

i havent heard of that problem till now:
but u can trie this: use 1st and 2nd dimm
flash 1.51bios
set timings @ 2-3-3-7 @ standart vdimm (i had them on standart before i ocled with my corsair and everthing worked fine...)

Downclocked ram to max at 333 (which is what stick B was running at on dell) but of course still doesnt post in neo2.

Now I threw in some of the most generic ram you can buy, cas 3-3-3-8 and its running smooth as stick A on the board.

Why not bios 1.5X, isn't it newer than 1.51? I'll try that right now, but it seems odd that the board would have such issues when it usually seems to be the memory controller on the cpu with the issues.

1.5X changed nothing...time to try 1.51 and 1.41 I guess

I'll try....but I'm not holding out any hope.

1.5x = no post
1.51 = no post
1.41 = no post
1.40official = no post

All settings in dram are on [auto] and stick B refuses to post....its matching stick is still fine, and a generic 512 stick is fine, all dimm slots work.

i have a very similar setup, but i have ocz tccd ram instead, but my neo2 is having the same problem, well, almost...won't post dual channel slots 1/2 or 3/4 but either stick single in slot 1 and it works fantastic...so like you i know it's not my ram...it has to be the board...i can't wait for the new DFI one cause then i'll dump this piece of crap...maybe try and RMA it? this seems to be happening a bit for people with these boards tho
