Ok so i got a new case and power supply for my P3 1.2ghz and i installed the motherboard and connected the drives, ect.. but i connected the 20 pin PSU to my 24 pin on my motherboard (i had been told i could do this by lining up the first 20 pins, and that it would work) and turned it on, i instantly smelled electrical fire and pulled out the power cord. Now where the power pin connects it smelles like burnt plastic and the CPU fan or any thing else in that corner of the motherboard wont run but all the lights on the motherboard work (this is after installing the original PSU) also one of my LED blinks turns red after switching on. PLEASE HELP!

I was hunting around yesterday for a 20pin/24 pin solution for my Asus PC-DL, I ended up picking up an adapter for for a few bucks. you can get a 20>24, or 24>20 depending on your needs. I guess some motherboards have the option to use a 20pin in a 24.Mine did, I just found out a few minutes late.

Sorry your mobo was KIA :( , just thought I'd mention that for next time.

Not quite as easy as it sounds, is it?

There are a few different 24 pin PSU standards. There is the ATX-GES which is for AMD, and if you try to use this one for Intel, bad things cn happen.

There are many different EPS +12v standards, and it can be very confusing. I was confused with using ATX-GES standard with my NF7-S v2.0, so just followed the pin outs and matched up what I needed, taking care to separate the two +12v rails.
