is this worth trying?...

if i run THIS (http://www.dangerdenstore.com/product.php?productid=87&cat=30&page=1) 80W TEC powered off a comp PSU (12V)
Imax = 8.0 Amps
Qmax = 80.0 Watts
Vmax = 16.1 Volts
Delta Tmax = 71 (C)
Size = 40mm X 40mm X 3.4mm

and cool it with THIS (http://www.dangerdenstore.com/product.php?productid=89&cat=30&page=1) 172W TEC powered by THIS (http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&product%5Fid=22-510) (Radio$#!t 13.8V 25amp PSU)
Imax = 7.9 Amps
Qmax = 120 Watts
Vmax = 24.6 Volts
Delta Tmax = 69 (C)
Size = 40mm X 40mm X 3.4mm

sandwiched between the cold plate and THIS (http://www.dangerdenstore.com/product.php?productid=63&cat=47&page=1) GPU block (DD maze4)

cooled by: Mag3 pump, caprice heater core with 2x NidecBeta V's (NO CPU block)

(some cooling tests show a +3.7F (thats F!) rise in water temps while running only the 172w NO LOAD)

i know i would need to get longer "bolts" to fit both TECs, but thats EASY...its the MATH behind if this is worth doing...
under the rule of thumb that a TEC cools 1/2 its "rating" and under volting the TEC lowers it "rating", im assuming this is REAL close to not working but i wouldnt mind a second opinion :toast:

o ya, heat source :rolleyes: x800 XT-PE (with possible V-Mods)

Yeah, that type of setup works well. Using 2 of the same doesn't because the lower one puts out enough heat to overwhelm the top one.

nooooooooooooooo

80w tec + x800xt-pe vmodded gpu = a lot of heat. a 172w @ 14v cannot take it, not even close. a 226w could, but not a 172w @ 14v.

so its a little more than "real close"....bummer

ok, so lets say i can get a 24V PSU for the 172W, could that take it?
-or-
lets say i have a 226 + slit-edge WB with custom cold plate (i made) that could EASILY fit 2x TECs and GPU mounting but would be a PITA to insulate (still this 14V PSU)

which of these would be best?

is this going to be "worth it" in the end?

damn, with ALL that wattage, id have to upgrade the cooling, but ive still got 3x rads and a "few" fans laying around :)

BTW i assumed this wouldnt work and hooked up the 172W while i waited on conformation, (thanks CrimeDog :toast: )

that 80W pelt puts out almost 95 wats by itself when run at 12v. i dotn know how much heat the X800 will put out but it only leaves you with 77 watts before thermal runaway.

ya, i dont know what i was thinking anyway, i quit using the 226W (on an AMD 1800+) after i saw the elect bill and now im thinking of running that, and an 80W AND a MachII... :slap:

if i really want beter clocks, i should just get a 24V PSU and put a little more lead on my Vmod (only running @ 1.44V) 615/595 is max OC i can seem to run :rolleyes: (-16C idle, +8 LOAD)

There was some overclocking team that did it and they got incredibly high clocks, higher than they got with a single pelt.

If you care about the electric bills i would buy a vapo somewhere 2nd hand (or a prommy) and mount that on your GPU. A vapo only uses as much as a 80w peltier :D
