Dunno what week my CPU is but i hope it's what holding me back... :(
I tried every setting suggested in the forum and in some other places...
i can't get pass test #5 in memtest86 no matter what...
even with 3-4-4-8 and 2.9v LDT x3 CPUx9 i can't get htt260 stable...
my SATA HDD is in the SATA3 port...
the modules are in DIMM1+2...
The only pretty stable set (in 11th hour in prime95 got an error...) i can get is 250htt @ 2-3-3-7 v2.8 and some other suggested settings (increase skew 225, 4708 sumfin :) -> i'm a noob...)
anyway, is there a way to check whether it's the CPU? or someone got another good guess what might free the mem out of their 250htt cell...?
THANKS!
P.S. i got the modules with black OCZ logo sticked to them and not the printed version, so...

that means newer ones right, well how to tell if its the mem controller is pretty tough i'd say.......tried upping the cpu voltage? also to make absolutely sure it aint the cpu max clock holding you back drop the multi to like 7 or lower, but im sure you've done that. Got another rig you can test the memory in otherwise?

What motherboard, PSU, video card and CPU cooling do you have?

oops, thought the signature would detail my spec.
AMD Athlon64 3200+ NC @2500mhz (250x10)
Thermalright XP-120
DFI Lanparty UT NF3-250
TT Purepower 480W
OCZ PC3200 EL Platinum Rev.2 (2x512mb) @ 2-3-3-7
POV 6800GT (@401/1150)
WD 200GB SATA 8mb buffer
TT Tsunami Dream Case
NEC DVD-RW 3500A
right now: HTT=250mhz / LDTx4 / CPUx10 / MEM=200 (1:1)
I didn't try lowering the cpu below x9 to be honest... it doesn't have problems with 2400-2500mhz so i didn't think ~2300mhz would hurt... hmm could it be that in that bandwidth it can't hold on 2400mhz?
i don't think upping the vdimm would help much.. it doesn't look like the mem is the problem because it's fine all the way to 250mhz 2-3-3-7, and suddenly in 260 it can't stabilize with 3-4-4-8 and 2.9v and some other loosen settings.. just ridiculous... so keep offering good ideas, i'm at work, when i come back i'll try all these stuff you offered.

if I increase vdimm either in bios or using booster should I also add decent volts to vcore?

Ofcoz i set the LDT to x3... i don't want to pass 1000mhz HT...
I'm waiting to get home to try with cpu x7 or x8 though...
i can't see any other reason that can stop me.. too weird.. i read a few posts around that describe the same situation...
someone got ideas? Steve?

Try memslots 1&3. They worked better for me than 1&2 when using 2x512MB Ocz 3700 EB.

hmmm, that was my previous configuration but i'll try that again, got nothing to lose.. i think... :)
keep flowin with ideas guys

Don't feel bad, I can't go above 232mz on my system, and it's watercooled. I've tried upping vcore to a rediculous 1.8 and it didn't help, so the highest I go is 1.725. Even got a 2nd pair of Corsair PC3200XL and hit the same barrier. Relaxed timings to 3448 and still couldn't go above 232mz without errors in Memtest.
It's interesting how gaming sites are finally admitting that memory doesn't run at 2225 timings when OCing. Many of the articles talk about running at 2336 and up.
My system is rock solid otherwise. I think I just got an unlucky chip. I plan on upgrading to an FX57 and some Gskill memory when the new chip comes out.

i just bought this rig, am not waiting for anything now :)...
he only thing i might replace is the CPU and only a year from now, when the prices dramatically drop...

Hey... You're here too I see (yeah, it's me, John from g3d ;) )
One thing, have you tried testing each stick individually? Could be a bad stick.

hey :), actually i haven't, i'll do that too... hope it's not the reason.

:stick: try poking it.
I've also got a TT PSU, a 480W Xaser Butterfly. Although my mem isn't exactly the best I'm pretty sure that it's the PSU acting up when i go above 10*250 3-4-4-10 I can get higher but either the cpu or ram bugs out, especially when playing HL2 or CS Source I get mem reference errors at higher speeds. I used to be able to OC to 2,6 ghz 10*260 but now I even get erros at 10*250. The catch is that I upgraded my videocard from a 9800pro to a 6800GT POV. IMO this GFX card is what really drains the system, PSU just can't provide all the juice i think plus the voltages don't seem to be very much in line with reference. My advice would be to buy at least an OCZ powerstream 520W (anandtech uses these to test their mem and they got highr oc's after they started using it. I'm also buying one of these as soon as they become available again.
In short it's a power(stability)problem. I THINK.

sounds like the problem i have with my ballistix.
i can go 240mhz at 2.5-2-2-10 with just 2.6v
i can raise the voltage to 2.65 or 2.7v to get to 244mhz, but anything past 244 mhz, regardless of timings or voltage refuses to pass memtest. and i can't boot with cas3 at any speed.
i think it's the memory controller on my 3200+

before i had the same problem, then i tried this, maybe you should try it out too. it helped me out alot.

it got me stable at 280mhz aftewards

there are several setups there.. i can say i tried some of them but not all of them...
I lowered the CPU multi down to x8 and managed to get 260htt pass through test #5 in memtest but in @3-4-4-10 2.9v, but the CPU is downclocked that way and i get very poor results comparing to this current setting...
can you be more specific and write down exactly your mobo setup?

i can't get pass 260htt now :)

well, i tried each module seperately.. i didn't fully test them, but i tried test #5 in memtest @ 260htt, and they passed it seperately, together they couldn't...
so it's the cpu?

try this, for 2 dimm installed
The settings
Vddr: 2.8v
TCL: 2.5
Trcd: 03
Tras: 07
Trp: 03
Trc: 07
TrFc: 14
Trrd: 03
Twr: 02
Twrt: 02
Trwt: 02
Tref: 4078
Twcl: 01
Skew: Increase 255
Drive Strength: 2
Max. async: 7ns
Preamble: 5ns
R/w Bypass: 16x
Bypass: 7x
32B granuarity: Disable
Again strill try to run at 2.5-3-3-6 1T for keeping the performance at a descent level.
If the settings above are not stable with your memory, you can change some "fine tune" settings here:
Vddr: 2.8v to 2.9v
TCL: 2.5
Trcd: 03
Tras: 07
Trp: 03
Trc: 07
TrFc: 14
Trrd: 03
Twr: 02 or 03
Twrt: 02
Trwt: 02 or 03
Tref: 4078
Twcl: 01
Skew: Increase 255
Drive Strength: 2 Leave this at 2, higher is too much for TCCD
Max. async: 7ns to 8ns
Preamble: 5ns
R/w Bypass: 16x to 8x
Bypass: 7x to 4x
32B granuarity: Disable

thanks, but i tried these settings as well, but with no avail...
forget about decent performance... gimme settings it must be stable with. i want to make sure it's possible. now i see that even with 250htt it's not fully stable :(, gonna have to drop cl to 2.5 and test all night..
what's the skew and strength drive for anyway? and what's each tighter settings and loosen? (skew 255 better then 128?, drive 1 over 2? )
Thanks!
Same setup here and I can't get over 245HTT memtest stable (no matter what settings) with 2 modules installed. The only way is to try 2T (CPC OFF). I am testing it right now.
However, dual channel socket 939 do not have this problem.

but does it worth it? having 270htt with 2T is better than 250htt 1T?

I think 250 1t is going to be quite a bit faster than 270 2t.

oh well... nevermind.. does anyone run his system on 300htt 24/7 anyway?
