Just wondering i have just ordered an 3200+ week 46 90nm. I currently have a Koolance EXOS AI with a 300G CPU block. I have PC4400 Corsair so 270MHz x 10 1:1 shouldn't be a problem :) I currently have a A64 3500+ which cost be 3x more then this 3200+ lol my mate can have this 3500+ however the max i can get out of it is 2.55Ghz (1.6v 100% stable) runs at 2.6GHz (1.66v) but some games crashes out i can boot at 2.7GHz but it comes up missing files. I am hoping to get at least 2700MHz out of the 3200+ think it is possible? Not too sure about the weeks but i do know my 3500+ is one of the first batches soo.

It's all hit or miss - let us know. It took 5 CPUs for me to hit 2.6Ghz - but good luck. It's not like Intel overclocking where getting a particular stepping meant almost a guaranteed a decent overclock. The good AMD64s are random week and stepping means nothing.

A little OT:
Dnottis, how did you get through so many CPU's?
RMA or Sell&Buy?

I know alot of people RMA them lol.

Isn't RMA'ing a chip that works perfectly but doesn't OC by your demands is a bit of cheating/stealing?

On Topic:
I think you'll be able to get 2.7ghz.
If my 3200 week 31 can do 2500mhz around 1.35v... Everything is possible! ;) :p:

Well I doubt he sold them all of on ebay to say the least.
He is right though that good clockers are random not something you can judge from steppings or weeks only.

Imho you WONT hit 2.7GHz. So get that out of your head before you install too many high hopes up there. The best Winchesters around right now(like maybe 1 in 10 of all OCd) stop at around 2.7GHz air stable so hoping for one of those few is hoping too much. Maybe 2.6GHz. And note i'm not even really a pessimist. :)

Buy and sell, only RMA'd one - it wouldnt prime at stock settings.

Well i should have my chip tomorrow so i can test it out, might try and shoot straight for 270x10 w/ 1.55v and see what it does. I an't too keen on this MSI NEO2 board so hopefully my A8N SLI shouldn't be too far behind :)

I guess I must have gotten lucky. My 3500+ is running stable at just over 2.7gHz for months now (247 x 11), with my PQI in 1:1 (2.5-3-3-7). But it took me switching to an OCZ Powerstream and putting a fan on the memory to do it. I have no idea why my memory was running so hot with only 2.65v going through it.

I may be building a system for a friend soon, though, and will definitely opt for a 3000+ or 3200+. I just don't see the extra $$ being worth 100Hz of CPU speed.

Probably sell him my PQI, too. I'm itching to try some GSkill or OCZ VX. :D

Did you remove the heatspreaders from the ram? They're like wooly mammoth fleeces! Got a bit more out of mine since I did - same ram and I'm running pretty much the same overclock - 2.7Ghz stable now. Running 2.7Vdimm

So i should shoot for 2700Mhz with 1.6v then

jeah if you got a new week amd64 wini you should be able to reach 2,7@1,6v like DazzXp already said.. but if you have bad luck you will need some more volts to run it stable and more than 1,6v on a amd64 wini is not real that good

Well i had 3 x 3200+ from week 43 and the best went around 2550Mhz,now i have 3000+ from the same week and this goes again around 2550Mhz vcore 1,7v....bad luck i would say

Hmm i guess i will find out sometime today. Although 1.7v should be decent with water cooling right? Or do the CPU's not like it at all?

I just installed 3200+ 0447 and I installed windows with no worries while running the chip 2.7 Ghz. With stock HS. After that I got a little carried away and busted two RAID-0 set's while OC'ing "just a little bit more" :D But hey, 2.7 in 24/7 use ain't bad?

01-07-2005, 10:59 PM
..and my new week 47 3200 won't do over 2.5 Ghz..so go figure.

so i don't know, it'S pretty easy with 1,6volts to reach 2,7ghz- i have a0440 rpfw 3000+ and it round with.

highest superpi score i got, but one of my 2 dimm is broken and its only singlechannel. can't wait to get the other one back from rma.

I have had two 0446 Winnies..

0446XPGW - 2500Mhz 1.6v primestable
0446TPAW - 2680Mhz 1.6v primestable

The TPAW is weird.. 2680 is max no matter what i run... 3dmark, super-pi, prime etc. If I feed it 1.7v i get 2700Mhz in 3dm, but not s-pi.

Im tired of this.. i have bad luck with CPUs. When I was looking for a nice barton, I had 30-35chips before I found a good one (2650 @ 2.0v)

No more winnies.. instead im gonna keep the two i have now and save some money. Then ill sell one of them and get the real thing.

Wow i thought i had bad luck with o/ced CPU's My 3200+ does 2700MHz Prim95 stable but craps out at 2800MHz both using 1.63v which seems to be the max my K8N NEO2 will give them :( Where do you guys get Super Pi from?
I did have some problems at first.
Just got my 3200+ today however although it can overclock past 2.7Ghz the best i can do is by running my CPU at 100MHz rather then the standard 200MHz (1:1) This applies to defualt speeds tooo!!!!! So have to use (2:1) Which i shouldn't have to do. If i run at 1:1 i get either files missing during boot or will just hang. Is my CPU dodgy or something? I have a Neo2 w/ Offical 1.4 BIOS. Works fine with my 3500+ which can do 300Mhz (1:1) So i know it's not the memory.
However i managed to find out what was the cause strangly enough it was the memory, My 3500+ used Slot 1 & 2 for dual channel at 1:1 however with this thing i HAVE to use 3 & 4 for dual channel 1:1

Nice clocks Franky but why the slow superpi run?

Single channel and not overclocked on teh memory = bad superpi

I am down to about 2.6Ghz @ 1.6v might try 2.7Ghz at this but for some reason i can't get my K8N NEO2 to run stable with +10% it did the same with my 3500+ so i guess it must to the motherboard possibly with it being A1 rev.

Seems the memory controller is holding me back i i lower the memory devider i can get higher clock speeds.

My new 3200 0448 SPBW from Monarch is running 260x10, 1:1. Got 32s in SuperPI 1M with stock cooler @ stock voltage. I'll see what I can do with water next weekend.

I got my 3500+ back in i don't like the 3200+ it was a poor overclocker with 1:1 great at 2:1 but it didn't feel as smooth as my 3500+ with 1:1

Hard luck with that mate,

Have u not tried the 1.36b bios, with the xtra voltage adjustments? The chip i have seems to like voltage, i need 1.70-1.72 (15%) volts to run 270x10 and 1.75-1.77(18%) volts to run 274x10, all 1:1 of course :)

This is water cooler ofcourse, load temps have never gone over 50C usually abt 42-48C depending on ambient temp.

1.36b bios is in the Best of AMD stickies FAQ on the Neo2. I recommend you read the whole thing, btw.

My 0444VPMW does 2770 @ 1.65v 100% stable on stock air cooling, i just can't get 2.8ghz stable.. maybe its time to ditch the stock cooler and slap my MCW-6002 on it eh :P

I i saw two 1.36's none had a B next to it so i downloaded the 1.37 which gives me the same options as the 1.36B. However the 13~18% doesn't work for me, might be due to mine being a older revision of the board or something :(

mongoled
01-12-2005, 07:49 AM
Nope the options in that bios showup but dont work, the 1.36b is also known as 1.36 so try any of the other two they should be good for you.

WesM63,

nice chip mate, ideally thats what i wanted out of my chip 280x10 would have been sweet :). Alas my chip dont want to go any futher that 270x10 rock stable, 273x10 is stable for gaming but not prime stable and i need to max the volts to do that. 280x10 just abt makes into windows and then crashes, heheee.

I think slapping on that heatsink (if u can call it that ;)) u should be able to get to that nice sounding 280x10. Good luck

mong

Mongold, heh.. to bad my 2770 isn't 1:1, its on a 12 divider with memory setting at 230mhz. My EB will only do 258mhz 1:1 with 2.8vdimm, good thing I got the booster coming.

Well installed the 1.36MOD and it gives me upto 1.92v :) However my Newcastle won't do 2.7GHz even with 1.85v so oh well 2.6GHz seems more stable now as my computer doesn't seem to crash anymore when i use the 10% settings :) Thanks
