today i've build this chiller. it is not charged yet.

the hx is a tube in tube hx (5m long). 15mm od tube for the liquide and 6mm od for refrigerant. inside of the spiral i've put a liquid tank with a pump inside.

the condenser is a bit small (prommy size) but was the only one i had laing around. if its not working good i'll buy a bigger one.
a added a coil in front of the condenser because it is that small.

is that a hydor?

do those handle the cold well? let me know, cuz i got one and was gonna get rid of it for a danner, but if it can handle the cold then i'll keep it.

thats very tidy work.

im a rookie to Phase Change systems, I'm lookin to pick up a few books on it so i'll be able to calculate the system ect, I really wanna build one at some point in the near future

anyhow are tube in tube heatexchangers more efficient than standard heatexchangers when used to chill liquid, if not what was your reasoning for using one, price, simpicity?

this is the first "real" chiller i've build. i use a tube in tube hx because it was very easy to insulate. i've just put the foam tubes around the copper tube before i bend it to a spiral. :)
a copper spiral (evaporator) in a shell (water tank) should work well also.
