I have a 2.4b and it seems to have some headroom, but I believe my RAM is completely maxed out. This screenshot is running on a 1:1 divider and I couldnt get past 2.7ghz when running a 4:5. To be stable at 3ghz, I had to run 1.65v through it which I know is too much for air cooling. Right now she's sitting on 1.625v at 2.94ghz. Specs are as follows:

Intel P4 2.4b@2.9 | Zalman 7000-AlCu
Abit Ai7 | WD1200JB
512MB Corsair XMS PC3000 | 2.5-2-2-6
Vantec Stealth 520watt PSU | Sleeved
Sapphire Tech 9800pro r360 | VGA Silencer Modded
Antec PlusView1000AMG | Dual 12" UV CCFLs
Logitech Z-640s | Audigy2

Thanks in advance. :D

Well your ram should have more room in it, being pc3000 ram

if that corsair is running 2.5,2,2,6 there are a few things it could be, first smack more voltage into it, should be fine, or try 2.5,3,3,7. the cpu is fine on 1.65v on air, fine up to 1.75v i would think. low temps being shown so that should be fine. did you make sure you locked pci bus? can't you use the 2:3 divider?, might only be available for 200mhz fsb cpu's, can't remember how you do it not used p4 in ages but there is normo an option to make it run as a 200mhz stock cpu and then you should get teh 2:3 divider. try that, but as i said mem should go further.
what exact mem is it, and how old?

AMDs can handle a lot more voltage than P4s. My mobo only has the options to run in 1:1 and 4:5 and these are using the 17 and 19 BIOS'. I tried running the ram at 2.5-3-3-7 and it didnt give me anymore headroom, so once I went to the 1:1 I tightend them back down. Default SPD is 2-3-3-7.

she must be popular for backgrounds, I got her too

seems like you have more left in it, but I don't know much about p4.

i know amd's can generally speaking handle more voltage, but p4's are still fine up to 1.75v without a doubt. 1.65v is low, later p4's, especially M0's can handle plenty more, people say teh gallatin core could handle 1.9 pretty easy.

there should be a force cpu fsb function of some sort. i'm 98% sure its in most of abits boards(for intel) can't think what it is, cpu strap or something like that? it should let you set what kinda fsb is default, errm, 2400/133=18, hmm, might be difficult to run the strap for 200mhz, in bios if you have that option set that and see if it then lets you lower the fsb. if it does set to that then lower to 166Mhz or so. That should give you 2:3 divider, if there is a hardware strap option.

is it a recently bought 2.4a? , c1's should be good for more than 2.9 by a lot IMHO. if you can't do anything just sell it, buy a 2.8C which are dirt cheap and you're sorted., if you want more speed.

You should try giving your ram more voltage if it is the limiting factor....

It's a 2.4b actually. 512k cache. And it's about a year and a half old from when I bought it. I might take your advice on selling this chip though. :D I want something with HT and 800fsb so I can really see what my Ai7 can do. :D
