Ive been bugged a lot about the instability ive found past 2700 mhz (9x300).
Ive gotten it up to about 2800 mhz at 1.7, but i wasnt sure how stable it was..
I know this chip can go further!
The chip is a week 47, and its a pretty high week for sure... Whats going on with this thing... I know mikem got his up to 3ghz, but i dunno why i cant!!

OCing isint gaurentied. You shoudent be supprised you didnt hit 3ghz. Your chip probley maxes at around 2.7 with your current cooling.

You could try 1.51b BIOS as ppl report it giving slightly better stability at high FSB.

LOL it's a $155 cpu. You're not getting 2.7GHz PERIOD - none of mine would.

There are a lot more inconsistancies that involve other things besides the mobo. The fact that your new psu might give you stable volts might help stablize anythign you can achieve, but don't expect more then stock. You're somewhat lucky for 2.7, as there have been probably 2-3 reported stable OCs from the 3000s and 3200s that are at or over 2.8 on air, and this is the xtreme forum.

but im using water.... not air......

Air or water dosen't matter. U get the same oc.
When u run it at subzero temps u automaticly gain xxx MHz with same voltage etc.
But the winchesters seems like they doesn't like the cold.

Could his raptor be limiting his OC?

It does shut off a lot during startup and stuff, after i oc...
Should i bring out my ide drive and install windows on it?

Should i bring out my ide drive and install windows on it?I'd see if that helps out. I remember with an nForce3 150 board a friend had, for some reason the Southbridge was limiting his OC.
So taking off the Raptor and putting in a PATA is worth a shot.

id put money on a bad PSU, once you get solid and on spec rails - youll be more stable but i doubt youll get a higher overclock
youre chip is probably maxed
which SATA ports are you using?

Im using 3 right now... All i knwo is that whenever i got teh oc high, and booted into windows, the raptor would just turn off (i could hear it shutoff and restart after the reboot bios screen)

Porblem... I get massive artifacts with 3x hgtt, and still some with 2.5..... I cant get htt x lower!! If i could, it would be sweet!! Any suggestions?

artifacts? artifacts occur when youre GFX card overheats, it has nothing to do with your HTT, is your GFX card overclocked?
if it is, back it off some
also, keep your HTT as close to but not over 1000, that is ideal
sun_tzu617
01-05-2005, 06:03 PM
um... no
300x3 htt = uber artifacts
300x2.5 = mnor artifacts... little glitchy things here and theremost likely due to program instablity
300x2 = not a single glitch... and now im getting up to 310 fsb.... still going... 1.57v...
Ill show comparision shots if you like... You shoulda seen ut2k4.... it was freaky..
I had just finished my pencil volt mod, abd i thouhgt i killed my card... luckily it wasnt that at all :D

wow... ive NEVER heard of HTT causing graphical artifacts

Maybe the AGP bus is not properly locked?
If you increase your HTT, the AGP bus is due to increase aswell unless you've locked it. And that affects the GFX, which might cause it to not function properly (graphical artifacts). Still, it seems very strange, but that is the only theory that I can think of.
ocmyface
01-06-2005, 11:06 AM
good suggestion, set the AGP frequency to 67 to lock it
sun_tzu617
01-06-2005, 11:49 AM
Thats when i first notcied the artifacts...i turned the clock to 66 again, and they were still frequent, so i turned the htt multi to 2.5, still a few, so i turned down to 2/1.5 and its working fine :D

Wait for that OCZ PSU, your current one might very well be the source of your artifacts and might help you OC further, I wouldn't say that 900MHz is a bad OC still you are way more lucky than most out there with that CPU.
Also try resetting your BIOS and doing every setting again, Fastwrites, NV/ATI boost etc should be off in bios.
