Just a quick question, will my a64 going over 60C cause instability? Or is that gernerally a safe temperature?

I wouldn't run it that hot. The long term life of your CPU is worth far more than an extra 15 Mhz, a performance difference you won't even notice.
its a newcastle right? if so mine idles at 35 -40 and load is 60 - 65 this is at 2.5ghz 1.65v, i have not experienced any stability probs and i usually game for hours on end, also i use crappy retail cooler but it seems to do a good enough job :)

wow. 60 degress. thats way overboard. should be in the high 40s or low 50s (48-52). Even 52 is a little high for me. You might not notice what the heat is doing now, but down the road it will take a toll on the cpu.

good temps would be about 35C-40C idle and 50C fulload...

It's not bad, but not that safe. I run my comp. at 62C at 100% load. At idle, or loading, it's about 43C. It's stable at 62C.

yeah normally if its stable then the temp is either not too high or just alittle high. Plus, where are you getting this temp from, the motherboard sesor? If its that theres a chance thats its wrong, which could mean that your 60degree load temp could be less.
