Got here a DFI LP ULTRA B , got a lot of other stuff as well ... just about to build a 3rd computer ....

anyway - gonna get a mobile xp - assuming 2500mhz from cpu ...
ram will be mushkin pc3200 lvl1 2X512 (one of the early samples of this ram - not voltage loving ...) - can i expect it to run high fsb , and at which timings ?

also - will this system limit the performance of a 6800gt in any way ?

thnx all ... and a happy new year as well !

Depends upon the benchmark or application you're running, name one and we'll tell you what will hold you back.

Im gonna use this rig mainly for multimedia, internet, downloads, Counter Strike - and if u say it's not a bottle neck - than perhaps as a main gaming rig - and turn the other rig with a help from a small friend called fx-55 ... a benching rig ...

It wont be a 100% bottleneck... with a faster CPU (like AMD64) you'll notice difference but it wont be HUGE (like Duron 1200 - XP2000+ stuff)... i had a NF7s/AMD XPM@2600Mhz/6800gt/DC ram on a FSB of 237 Mhz and it was pretty much ok...

Counter-strike was no problem at al.... that game is so old already :p
Even HL² ran pretty much ok with an average FPS of 40 on 1600x1200 full detail... this was with 1 gig of ram... 512 dropped some performance. 3Dmark2003 was about 11500... 3DMark2001 was about 22000...

I noticed a difference when i bought AMD64 3000 and overclocked it to 2600mhz... but it wasn't like VERY HUGE... it was something... but not WOW!

And you say you gonna use it for multimedia, internet,cs, etc... and stuff like that... so it will perform ok..

Here is a chart I made with very similar system (barton at 2.65ghz, 1gb bh5 @ 230mhz, 6800u @ 480/1350) in half-life 2. I took the liberty of putting in bold where I was gpu limited.

CrimeDog - Thnx for that chart - from what I got - System is not a bottleneck at all ? the problem is the v.c ?
I mean on 1600X1200, X8/X16 ?
acutally this resolution is not a problem for me - coz im running an lcd screen - so 1280X1024 is max. res. for me ....
